Re: Yu Suzuki revisits Shenmue at GDC 2014 (Postmortem)

I think the most we can hope for in terms of announcements is HD remakes. There was that Sega PR guy who heavily hinted at it, then there was the Shenmue Master interview where Suzuki looked a little cheeky when asked about remakes...and the whole PS4 campaign of bringing fan-favourites to PS4, with...

Re: Sleeping Dogs

Apparently the story's easily the best part of the game, according Wired's Chris Kohler, in an interview with Sleeping Dog's producer. That was enough for me to preorder it on Steam -- only $45, which is dirt cheap for a new game here in Australia.

Re: Sleeping Dogs

Check out Aberdeen in Sleeping Dogs. Looks very reminiscent of the beginning of Shenmue II. Pretty sweet. I'm not into GTA-type games, but I'm definitely going to pick this up and play through the main story.

Re: Anyone interested in making shenmue 3 with rpg maker vx?

I don't think RPG Maker is that a good a fit for a Shenmue game to be totally honest, even if it was hack-n-slash instead of turn-based. I started making a Shenmue 1 remake in RPG Maker years ago and it went nowhere, not that yours will do the same. Adventure Game Studio seems like a better fit to m...

Re: SD Editorial Archive

Awesome. It's always interesting reading articles from before the game was released. It becomes rather apparent that Shenmue I & II were being developed at the same time, almost as one game. In fact, most of the pre-release screenshots are from the second game's levels and scenarios, which poses...

Re: Shenmue 1080p

It's OK. I've managed to make a design without the high-res images. Thanks anyway :)

Re: Shenmue 1080p

Master Kyodai, I was wondering if you had any more hi-res renders of Dobuita, Yamanose or Sakuragaoka (mostly Dobuita)? I'm going to write an article about the first Shenmue and wanted to create a design to go with the text.

Re: Retro Gamer : The Making of Shenmue

Fantastic effort by Cole and Retro Gamer. I loved the article. It's so rare to read a piece on Shenmue nowadays and find new and interesting information, but they really pulled it off. I loved reading about the more technical side of the project, because the tech is clearly a huge part of what made ...

Re: The New Shenmue Dojo

Just so you know, I was never informed you were working on anything. More so, the only other re-design I saw was someone working on a wordpress site. So there must have been a lot of mixed signals between you few designers and Hellraiser. It's all good. I don't blame anyone for my design not being ...

Re: The New Shenmue Dojo

Well, I was born in England and lived there for 16 years of my life, so I consider myself half and half. Not like the choice helped me in the world cup

Can't believe I signed up to these boards over 6 years ago :|

Re: The New Shenmue Dojo

Cheers Oppy.

I might start posting more regularly on here, because even the regs at IGN are starting to drop off. Strictly Shenmue talk, though. I try not to get sucked into generic game chat anymore. Kills way too much time #-o

Re: The New Shenmue Dojo

It's all good, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Happy you think it's an improvement. So what happened? Why didn't you finish it then? It just didn't end up happening because of the changeover, I guess. I'm pretty sure we were going to go through with it, but Ziming was unsure of the future of...

Re: The New Shenmue Dojo

Just thought I'd pop in and thank the new owner for keeping the Dojo alive. This site is the foundation of Shenmue fandom on the internet and that will never change. Unfortunately I'm not the biggest fan of the site redesign (I gave my quick 2 cents on the IGN Shenmue forum ), but the new forum is m...

So this is really happening? Losing the main site is going to suck - it's pretty much the home for Shenmue on the net, regardless of the lack of news or update-worthy information. It's had a good run, though, no doubt about that. I just hope all the information on the main site is going to be saved ...

Lets face it; Shenmue's an easy target, but regardless of whether the writer of this article enjoyed Shenmue or not, only the ignorant would label it a 'set back' in game design. It was pure innovation and at the time, it felt like there was a lot of things to do within the world. It's just wanky &q...
