Re: No Time Skip In Shenmue I

The modern player issue is definitely a thing, sure, but if a game sort of wants to or at least seems to want you to do things in a certain way, then being able to time skip to get to the next important bit, when you want to, goes against that. It goes against the mundanity, the thing the game tries...

Re: No Save Transfer to SIII

It's an interesting thing... what's the problem with this. :-k Technically there really should be no problems... UE can read files like anything can. I guess it could be just a matter of time, of prioritizing or of not having the save format, which would be insane, but possible... :|

Re: No Time Skip In Shenmue I

Yeah, I agree. In 2 it's a bit more understandable, but I was actually surprised when I first played it and saw it... I thought it had no place in the game. It's an quality-of-life thing, sure, but personally, I think it sort of waters down the thing a little bit. But pompously, time-skip has no pla...

Re: Concerns about Shenmue HD.

My concern is that you see the intro to Shenmue 1 in 4:3... will the cutscenes not be in widescreen? I'd venture a guess that anything that was a movie to begin with would be in its original aspect ratio. I don't think they'll be re-doing them. Does anybody even have the originals anymore? Can anyo...

Re: Shenmue III Logo Poll [Back]

I picked the cursive, but what I'd like to pick is Yu's international version, but that just looks off. It really needs an artist or a calligrapher to go over it. Or someone. Which leads me to its reflection the Japanese katakana version which personally, in game terms would absolutely be the real c...

Re: Shenmue HD announced for PS4 / XBOX ONE / PC

"Noice!" Is a thing I'm supposed to say right? :D

I just hope they market the game properly... at least a little. :???:

Re: THEORY: Did Xuying Train With Iwao in Bājíquán?

Trained Iwao, I'd say unlikely. Same teacher, could be likely. :)

Re: I am a bit confused why the Ryo model looks so bad

A lot of assumptions about game development here from people who don't develop games. "Polygons are polygons." Heh. But in anyway, I agree the model didn't look good, but the model shown in Famitsu (shown above) was absolutely fine to me. -_- They have a physical sculpt of Ryo's head. The...

Re: I am a bit confused why the Ryo model looks so bad

Because game development hasn't started yet and it was a concept video? Kinda missing the point here. Since development hasn't started, why not re-use the passport model but with higher resolution skin textures and whatnot? Why go through the trouble of creating a brand new model that is clearly in...

Re: Kickstarter Update #17 - Twitch Recap

I can't believe it took them three days to make this recap while the Dojo had one within minutes. And the Dojo's recap is better. 8-[ About the timing, to be fair they probably don't get paid for working on the weekend. They did put it up the first working-day morning after the stream i.e. Monday. ...

Re: Awesome Japan

I noticed now that the latest update had a video in English and one in Japanese (no subtitles?). Maybe they changed this due to discussions here about people who wanted to hear the original voices. Wait what? :) I thought the issue was that there should be only one video, technically, with japanese...

Re: Response from Joel "The Red Shirt Guy" Tess & Awesome Ja

While it'd be nice to have both Japanese and English, if it comes down to money, I'd rather have just the Japanese. It fits the context better and overall. I'd assume that our little community isn't against this idea, by and large?

Re: Delayed or unfinished?

The whole concept of an 'unfinished' game from the gamers' perspective is tricky to say the least. Most games go through considerable cuts before they're done, sometimes the entire game is cut and then rebuilt, yet, most games are not considered 'unfinished'. Expect when a piece of DLC comes out tha...

Re: Response from Joel "The Red Shirt Guy" Tess & Awesome Ja

When I read that, I pictured him answering them in the exact same style as he presented the Twitch videos... You and me both. :) But, still, this guy has a lot of weight on his shoulders. While he could certainly do something about his behavior on the Twitch video, I wouldn't want to be where he is.
