Re: Dark Souls Remastered.

Probably. I mean, the combat systems are very different, but the general style of exploration/item management/leveling is very similar, yes.

Re: Fist of the North Star (New)!!! PS4

Even if it is the old engine, it's still no excuse for the game to operate like a PS1 RPG. It's more a question of optimization. Being that it's an engine that was created last generation (it started with Yakuza 5) running on current hardware, and the fact that they, themselves, created it... you'd...

Re: Fist of the North Star (New)!!! PS4

Well... the "wasteland exploration" is a bit disappointing. Seems like it's more relegated to a kind of JRPG overworld mold, rather than actual open-world gameplay. Not in the traditional sense, obviously; clearly it doesn't look like your average overworld map. But enemy encounters phase...

Re: What are you reading?

Recently got interested in a lot of comics I never thought I'd be interested in. See, I got the Fourth World by Jack Kirby Omnibus for Christmas, so I've been chipping away at that; always wanted to read the legitimate origins of the various Apokolips and New Genesis characters (and just more Jack ...

Re: The friends of Ringo Ishikawa

So is this going to be on Steam? Hope so. I'd buy it immediately once a page goes up for it. Just looked up some of the earlier Technos-style gameplay too; have to say, I really liked the atmosphere in some of the videos where snow is falling and it's got soft jazz playing. I know you haven't final...

Re: The friends of Ringo Ishikawa

Yeah, topic belongs more in the gaming section, so I just shuffled it over for ya. Looks pretty groovy though. I'm a big Kunio fan, so this kind of thing is right up my alley. Retro graphics with a late-80s/early-90s Japanese delinquent aesthetic; I dig the hell out of that. Are you developing it a...

Re: Yakuza series

^^I've only ordered from Play Asia once or twice, years ago, and that was pretty much my only experience with them: shit took waaaaay too long to ship and arrive. I don't think I've bothered with them since.
I tend to go with CDJapan for any import needs.

Re: Does Anyone Here actually like Simulation Games?

Based on this topic so far, I don't think I even understand what qualifies a game as being a "sim." Previously I would have assumed a sim would primarily be a game that handles its subject matter realistically, in a realistic setting; most flight sims, for example, or something like the G...

Re: How did they F the Xbox port so badly?

the storyline is anything but 70s martial arts, so it's incredibly unfitting. "Anything but"? Eh... I wouldn't say that. The story is basically "martial arts badass killed my father, now I seek revenge." That's literally about 90% of 70s kung fu plots. (I know I'm way late in re...

Re: What are you currently playing?

I'm many, many hours into Prey right now (and it's seeming like it'll be many, many more hours before I'm done), and I absolutely love it. I wasn't super-enthused when I played the demo way back, because the stealthing enemies were a pain, but once you figure out tactics for them, it's not a proble...

Dark Souls Remastered

It's a thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yVOMHz9luo Haven't seen any screens or gameplay yet, but I think we know what to expect. It'll probably look a lot like Dark Souls. But remastered. Honestly, I might be a little more hyped if they were doing Demon's Souls Remastered; not that it's the ...

Hadn't seen that cover til now. With Yakuza 2 being my favorite in the series, I gotta say... that boxart is pretty perfect.
