Re: Upvote my Comment for the Xbox Suggestion

Not meaning to be a dick; but you posting this is more likely to harm the chances of any future Shenmue releases than help. There's already a comment calling for Shenmue which had garnered over 600 votes last time I looked. Multiple comments are likely to split the vote and given how broad your comm...

Re: NeoGAF: New Japanese trademark from Sega (Shenmue)

I don't think I ever responded to this but I'm so glad you broke it down the way you did. That really shows how successful Shenmue was on the DC and how successful it potentially could have(SHOULD HAVE) been on another console. Microsoft and Sega should have properly released Shenmue 1 on the Xbox ...

Re: Shenmue RPG?

I recall seeing video of a similar project put together using RPG maker.

Re: NeoGAF: New Japanese trademark from Sega (Shenmue)

I doubt it's large enough to make Shenmue 3 a viable financial risk. The reason that Shenmue failed to turn a profit for Sega had nothing to do with it's budget and everything to do with the limitations of the Dreamcast. Shenmue sold over 1.2m copies on a console which sold little over 10m units. T...

Re: NeoGAF: New Japanese trademark from Sega (Shenmue)

Are people genuinely expecting something from anyone? Take a look at the games, their grandeur, their development studio, their costs. After presenting their games today, could you really see a Shenmue related game/announcement being made? Seriously? It's been repeatedly said Suzuki barely has a te...

Re: NeoGAF: New Japanese trademark from Sega (Shenmue)

I totally lost my hopes, honestly I thought that MS was the only one able to moneyhat Shenmue, after the conference..., bye Ryo T_T The real kick in the teeth was Phil Spencer's closing remarks in which he harped on about how Microsoft listened to what people wanted and had backed games accordingly...

Re: NeoGAF: New Japanese trademark from Sega (Shenmue)

The only way I can see us getting a Shenmue 3 is if it's a FPS with zombies. It saddens me a little to see how generic the gaming industry has become.

Shenmue 2 'Post Mortem'?

Hi guys. I was wondering whether anybody had any idea if/when Yu planned on discussing the development of Shenmue 2? The final slide at GDC said something along the lines of 'Shenmue 2 begins development. To be continued' - and as most of my questions about the development of the series are centered...

Re: Speculation: Why there is no HD version of Shenmue

Like I said going from normal to HD or VGA is a huge thing but going from VGA to HD is very insignifcant. Are you for real? The only difference between scart/composite/RF and VGA is that one outputs an interlaced picture and the other progressive. I'm in no mood to go into how the two work - but in...

Re: Riding a sinking ship on purpose?

It's possible. By the time Shenmue two was on the table I think Sega/Yu would have had an idea that the DC wasn't going to last too much longer. I suspect there may have been more work done on the story beyond the cave which could possibly have been added to Shenmue 2. I think the cave or Lan Di esc...

Re: I hope Sega are gutted

Ok i must have miss-understood the meaning of 'Sega lost the Shenmue trademark', i thought that since they lost it they no longer owned shenmue anymore. A lot of people seem to have gotten that impression. It's unclear at this moment whether the trademark that expired was even for Shenmue (it looks...

Re: I hope Sega are gutted

i mean what the fuck is the issue here? In the nicest possible way; your topic is stupid. but the point of my topic is that SEGA will be gutted if shenmue 3 is released and sells really well. Sega losing the Shenmue TM in the US has no bearing on Sega's ownership of the Shenmue IP. If Shenmue 3 is ...

Re: I hope Sega are gutted

There's a number of reasons that the Dreamcast failed. First and foremost; It was a ahead of its time. In the short-term this was great; as graphically it was able to blow the N64 and Playstation away. In the long term, however, it gave Nintendo and Sony more time to work on their next consoles mean...
