I also think shenhua would have been a better narrator there...and the prologue is different because I think you're comparing shenmue's prologue and shenmue II's...and they are slightly different. I like shenmue II's better though

I think it might have been better if he knew Chinese from the start, and spoke Japanese (w/ subs) in S1 and chinese (with subs) in s2. But that would mean different voice actors, and translating the letter from Zhu would have been far too easy.
