Well as a Shenmue fan my greatest achievement was when I went to Yokosuka.
As for my life when I quitted my crappy job years ago that was my beginning to become economically independent and learned the value of self- education. I learned way more than what you learn in college and all my life in school.
Right now I am working to more achievements I want to live in Asia and go to Hong Kong.

Super happy that I won, I couldn't believe it...I must have been playing for like 6 hours straight for like 3 or 4 nights remembering all the different enemies, what works on them, and what doesn't, and to be honest, I think it was like the last 20 and the boss that I managed to take out pretty quick, cause watching the video back now, the start is slightly embarrassing haha, me running kicking thin air, hehe. But yea awesome stuff! I'm surprised that only 9 people entered?

Although I won't be crazy active, I hope to post again from time to time, especially since this competition reunited me with the game I love, and it's amazing community that has supported and stuck around this long. It's nice to still see some familiar names.

my close friends from high school, shane, works at disney interactive and is at E3 right now and posting pictures of him at E3 on his FB and im like, ok im jelly bro. Me and him and his twin brother jon have all played many hours of video games and watched many hours of anime together along with a handful of my other friends from back then, we used to have like weekend sleep overs, we would go to the arcade play DDR, Soul Caliber 2, Tekken Tag Tournament, Tekken 4, and were in hot anticipation of getting Tekken 5, MvC 2, Street Fighter 3rd Strike etc etc etc all in the arcade and this was every day after school. I used to play alot of fighting games back when I was mall rat (one of the arcades was at the mall, it was the arcade with the "good" DDR machine, those of you that have played DDR arcades know what I mean) I think it had DDR 3rd Mix, the one across the street had DDR USA and it didnt have as many good songs. This was around the time of my nerdiest years when I was 16-19, watched anime every single day, mandatory had to, I made a rule to watch anime every day back then. Games I was just playing back to back, also the time I played FF10, FF7, FF8 for the first time, in that order, Phantasy Star Online, Grandia 1 and 2, Lunar 1 and 2, Skies of Arcadia, fucking shenmue. The glory days man, my last couple years in high school was when I really got into JRPGs, and became a true gamer and also experienced some of the best games of all time. I really miss those guys from back then, but most of them have spread out unfortunately. Some of you guys here may even remember parts of that, and here we are almost 10 years later and have seen alot of great games in that time period, cheers to the good ole days.

I can halfly relate. I had been having diffuse pain down there over a year ago, got some infection apparently but tests didn't show any bacteria or transmittable diseases (which they suspect first of all). With some pills the pain eventually went away but came back a few months ago. I also have some trouble with a nerve in my back (due to work before) which radiates so I thought that this maybe was the cause.
But I did notice a "floating" lump where the pain seemed to radiate from. Finally they checked with ultrasound two weeks ago and told me that it didn't seem dangerous. Just today I got a letter again, confirming that it was a benign cyst attached to the pipe work down there ;) We'll see.

I'm going to Kevin Smith's 300th Smodcast tonight just to have a good time but also to approach him for business related reasons (like a spot on a documentary we're making).

My boss wants me to pitch him two old horror movies he has the rights to in hopes of getting Smith to come on board to remake one of them. I'm not sure if he's interested in remaking crappy "campy-as-fuck" horror movies, but it's worth a shot.

What if this whole time, Yu had been continuing his original vision, and made Shenmue 3 and beyond? What do you think that would have been like? Lets say maybe at this point in time, they were finishing the final chapters and what if it was coming out on a current gen platform? How many hours of enjoyment would we have gotten from all of those games at this point in time? How much talk and theorizing about the story would have come and gone? Not to mention all the talk about the game itself, exploration, bugs and glitches, mods etc? How even more quality would this place have been? Man, I really wish we had gotten to experience that. Hell, Sega may have still been in the console business if that had happened as well. Why cant everything that deserves to succeed, do so?

I just really feel had this series continued, it would hold such an even deeper place with me at this point, and it would have a sacred cult following, and held up as absolute niche gold, kind of like how it is now, but on steroids. I really would have liked to see what Yu would bring to the table through the progressions of this series, what he would have changed and improved with each game as time went on. There is just so many things and what ifs that I think would be fascinating to know. Idk maybe I just think about weird shit lol

Welcome to the Shenmue Dojo. We are all Shenmue fans, and discussion is undoubtedly going to happen concerning Shenmue III. We all want it, even if there is a slim chance of it ever happening. So excuse the people who get excited over stuff that is said by X executive and X game company, because honestly, nobody truly knows what goes on behind closed doors except for the execs themselves. Note: this applies to anyone who has been a member of the Shenmue Dojo Community since before 2005 (!). Whoever the guy was that said it has become the cool thing to be negative and down on anyone with hope is spot on.

That being said, it is entirely ridiculous on "people who haven't given up" side to be nasty or rotten to users on here or people over a game. We get it, Shenmue is awesome, but at the end of the day, we would still be alive without it.

Can't everyone just be decent?

Totally nice guy, but he's extremely shy. It was kinda awkward at first (I was a bit starstruck having seen him as the Nerd for years) but eventually he opened up. But he's one of those guys who is way more comfortable with people he's known for years.

Net Neutrality does not protect the biggest companies and make them pay less. If you get rid of NN, it gives the oligopoly MORE power to regulate content as they see fit which means competitive companies like Netflix will get slower traffic due to intentional throttling so they can force users to use the company's own VOD services. I work with smaller companies that operate steaming content sites, they will be affected by this more. There aren't many ISPs scattered around the nation, and with these mergers happening, this will only get WORSE if they ban NN.

People get scared when they hear "government regulation" so much they don't realize it means the government is telling these major companies to NOT discriminate bandwidth usage between websites among other things. It's like being scared that the government is regulating your food supply to make sure quality standards are being met. It's paranoid delusional shit. If the lobbyists get their way they'll be able to slow down competitors' content, gain more revenue by charging competitors or customers fees (http://www.theverge.com/2014/4/24/5650406/netflix-accuses-comcast-of-double-dipping-with-isp-toll), and maximize their profits in the end.

All this talk of "innovation" on their end is bullshit. Google Fiber is innovation. They're riding on the coat tails of telephone company cables but they're the ones truly innovating, not whining about it. Pretty soon the oligopoly will start threatening to downsize because "they can't afford to compete" when they'll be downsizing anyway if they get their way because they'll taking advantage of other countries by outsourcing and giving them meager wages. All so they can keep their billions, keep their pot-bellied investors happy, and be able to keep their ranking on the Forbes Top 100 list for another year.

So in short, fuck Comcast. Fuck AT&T. Fuck Charter. Fuck Time Warner. Fuck all these guys.

Story

But when he returned home one day, a man wearing a mask and hiding his face with his cap was waiting. Shinada tried to leave, but was stopped when the man said "I want you to find out the truth about the home run from 15 years ago". A man who was once regarded as a genius of the sport once again takes hold of a bat in order to uncover the truth.

Mayumi gives Kiryu, who is leading a lonely life in Fu-kuoka after seperating from Haruka and the children at Asagao, a life of peace without ever inquiring about his past. Before long, this life starts meaning all the world to him...

He has, in absolute secrecy, been keeping track of the alliance negotiations between the Tojo Clan and Yamakasa family in Fu.kuoka and, after the disappearance of Dojima Daigo, tries to get in touch with those involved. Since then, he has been providing information of any developments to the parties concerned. Fearing that police intervention will kick off the war, they opt to work behind the scenes in order to bring about a resolution to affairs in an indirect manner.

He has condescending eyes. No one can tell what he is thinking about because of the way he talks and acts. He is always close to the centre of trouble. What on earth is the intention of this man who is trying to control things...?

The concept of "Anyone can do it, it's simple, it's cool!", which is a feature of battles in the Ryu ga Gotoku series, is still present, but the fundamentals of the system have had a complete reform! Akiyama is skilled with his agile feet, with which he can turn on a dime. With his bombardment of hits, he doesn't even leave himself open to counterattack opportunities. He certainly lives up to his name of "Speed Star" when he makes sport of his enemies with his movement. He has a wide variety of consecutive strikes with which he gracefully crushes his opponents, coupled with a unique side of him as demonstrated by his characteristic taunt.

Ultimate Technique - Air Strike

Putting both his agility and footwork to good use, Akiyama attacks with an acrobatic air strike. He launches an opponent into the air with a powerful kick, then proceeds to unleash a graceful kick combo attack. He can play around with an opponent who falls back down with more attacks that will once again send him into the air.


Shinada Tatsuo
I don't care about doing it in style; I'll win MY way!

The new protagonist Shinada's style of fighting - "Do absolutely anything it takes to win" - Is different to that of the other characters. If he has a weapon he will naturally put it to use, and he has a wide variety of techniques, that are by no means graceful, used to recklessly wrestle enemies when he fights bare-handed.

Shinada, the former baseball player, has both power and the ability to judge the exact moment to take advantage of opponent's weakness. If Shinada gets hold of an enemy, he can attack consecutively without ever releasing him. He can unleash a consecutive series of attacks - He can smash an opponent into a wall, then ram into him, then smash him into the ground. After that, he can once again smash the opponent into the wall.

The policy of a baseball player is to handle one's gear with care. When Shinada has a weapon, its real power is shown. Revelations, a popular feature of the series, are back in this game. All the protagonists, including Haruka, can learn a new technique by witnessing events around the city. Acquiring revelations has been dramatically improved with the inclusion of its own story, which one can enjoy in the same way that one would enjoy any other substory. In addition to this, the characters are now able to suddenly have revelations in battle to gain new techniques.

Seemless Battle

All battles, from fights with random guys on the street to boss fights, now utilise a seemless system. The game now goes straight into battle directly, with no break in the flow at all, from an event leading to battle or an incident on the streets. Even storyline boss battles flow directly from story to battle and you can enjoy the greatest abundance of scenarios ever seen in the series.

The reaction towards an enemy's or protagonist's actions have evolved; there will be enemies who run away in reaction to one of your powerful techniques, and there will be enemies who rouse themselves. Also, enemies will do things like team up on you, or call for more companions. The variety in battle has been dramatically improved. There are enemies beyond imagination and a battle scale never before seen in the series.

Haruka competes in dance battles as part of her training for Princess League. There are dancers waiting for an opponent to compete with in various places around Soutenbori, to whom you can issue a dance battle challenge by talking to them. Each dancer has their own genre speciality. The genres of music are hip-Hop, house, idol, jazz and rock.

"Dance Battle" System

This is a rhythm game in which you are required to time button presses with the corresponding buttons that stream along the four frames arranged on the screen (Above, Below, Left, Right). The frames can be moved freely by the player and you get a successful input when the selected frame and button timing match up, which directly brings out a flashy action from the character. There is a "Judging" component which reflects the audience appraisal of the dancer. Judging is determined by the content of the dance and a dancer who receives negative appraisal will feel great pressure and lose health. When all health is lost, you cannot continue the dance battle and are defeated.

Turn the tables with "Dance Heat"

Heat actions can be used in Haruka's dance battles, featuring both showy and cute techniques. Like with the other characters, when the heat gauge reaches a certain amount, you can use a heat technique at any time you like. You can select which dance heat actions Haruka can use before a battle. They exhibit great effectiveness that can completely turn things around for you when in an unfavourable situation.

Improving "Power of Expression"

When she wins a dance battle, one of Haruka's "Power of Expression" idol abilities can be improved. "Power of Expression" is essential for victory in the Princess League.
Hostesses

In past Yakuza games the hostess sections would normally follow a distinct pattern of questions and answers with the player choosing lines of dialogue as answers to questions. Yakuza 5 breaks this formula by allowing conversation happen more freely with the girl reacting to the players more realistically than before. Topics will be brought up from information learned around the city in free roam.

All hostess conversation is now fully voice acted using the full facial mapping to give the most life like performance. Instead of the old build up hearts system and have a sub story and a date you can now ask them out at any time depending on your hostesses mood. Asking out a hostess and completing a date activity might unlock more parts to a larger sub story for the girl.

After leaving on a date with a girl you can roam around the city freely arm in arm having a meal or hitting one of the cities play spots or bars. Play well against your girl in a mini-game and you might be rewarded with a kiss.

Form a deeper relationship with the girl and expect to have a deep and fulfilling story that will be unique to each character.

Nah, but I've been watching a few interviews on YouTube in which various Friends talk about the series and whoever is doing the interview always asks the question ... "There's all this talk about a Friends reunion. Is it going to happen?" And of course, since there are no plans, what can they say about it? So far, they're being amazingly patient with whoever's asking the question for the 44,000th time!

And I was watching about the third of these in a row, and I thought, "This sounds awfully familiar." And then I realised it was very much like all the Shenmue III rumours, and then if there was an interview with Yu Suzuki he'd have to dodge the questions in pretty much the same way.

Anyway, not to go into my problems but another $#itty year has gone by, 2015 is here, and in May I turn 50! So I hope some of you from up to 15 years ago have at least got out of your bedrooms!

The original Shenmuedojo.com domain is now back with us again. Shenmue Dojo was created 15 years ago with this domain. In 2003 we lost ownership of it and only recently were we able to get it back.

I don't really play or have all that much interest in video games any more. Even then, I'm very surprised that I managed to miss this for over a week...

Anyway, HOLY SHIT!!!

I remember numerous times, back in the day, breaking Dojo records for the number of people signed in when there was apparently going to be a "big announcement" at E3 or some other games show, and every time, we'd all be disappointed. Then all that Shenmue Online crap happened, and we didn't know whether to be excited or puzzled, and then that just disappeared. Eventually, I think most of us just accepted it wasn't going to happen ever.

I'm looking back at my post history on here. I first posted in 2004 - 11 years ago. I was 15 at the time. I stopped posting long ago, and long before that this place had become less about the Shenmue, and more a community of friends. This was a really important place for me for several years.

How amazing is it to come back here, over a decade after I first joined, and see that the one thing deep down we've all been longing for, which we'd all truthfully lost hope in, is actually going to happen? No game has ever immersed and captivated me like Shenmue did. It's still slowly sinking in, but I still can't quite believe it.

Things that get on my proverbial tits ? Everything and nothing at the same time... because I'm a man of wisdom :mrgreen:

I'm most concerned about little things than big one ; I can understand how fucked up is the society of today, because I lived long enough to make a self judgment about this, and the truth is that society is evolving and we don't accept it. The last thing that can change our society is a civil war, a revolution, or another WW.

I have been planning to stream Shenmue this week myself. Originally I intended to announce this in another thread, but I suppose since Twitch made it official, I'll do the promotion now.

I've done game playthrough streams before, but usually only for an audience of like one to three people. I plan on streaming Shenmue when I can during the weekends, that's Friday (tonight), Saturday, and/or Sunday. I will keep you guys informed when I am specifically streaming as time goes on.

My first stream will be tonight, estimating starting anywhere from 9 to 10 eastern standard time. I do not know how long the stream will run, but I'll try to keep it interesting. I do not wish to step on anyone else's toes, so if even one person attends my stream, I will be content with that.

I couldn't honestly see the villages Shenhua and Ryo visiting in Shenmue 3 as realistically having Arcade games anyway ;-)
