Re: Shenmue clothes

Hey guys, I hope you don't mind me posting the following, although if you do then I'll delete it :)

To cut a long story short, Insert Coin influenced me to create some Shenmue-related clothing items. The reason for this is, although they had the official license to produce Shenmue clothing, I felt their design choices were so uninspired. Ryo's jacket = iconic. A great choice. A t-shirt with the tiger from said jacket on the front? Not so much, in my opinion.

And that was all they could come up with...

If you're a hardcore Shenmue fan - like I know you all are - then you know that there is a vast amount of material in the series to create countless amounts of designs. Obviously I understand Insert Coin is a business and a very good one at that, but I just feel they barely scraped the surface with their Shenmue items. To me, it looked like the designs were done by someone who wasn't a fan of the game. If you look at virtually all their other designs, they're clever references to the games that inspired them. With Shenmue, that just wasn't the case.

Which leads me onto why I'm posting all of this. Recently, I finally got around to finishing my first Shenmue-inspired t-shirt! As you will see, it is a recreation of the Heavens t-shirt you see various members wearing in the 2nd game. Not very original on my part I know! But hopefully a nice homage that you guys will enjoy. Below is a picture of it:

In an ideal world, I would've loved to have printed and produced this t-shirt myself. However, right now I'm just testing the waters to see how my designs are received before I decide on embarking on this type of work more seriously. Due to this, I've used customizable design websites as my platform for now. The advantages to this, however, is that it lets users select and choose their own colours and t-shirt styles to match their preference. And with the Heavens t-shirt, that is ideal because it is shown in various different styles in the game :D

Anyway, here are some links to purchase the t-shirt:

http://www.zazzle.com/shenmue_heavens_t_shirt-235644967944655892

The differences with both platforms is that, with Redbubble, the design is bigger, whereas there are more customizable options with Zazzle. So you could, for example, recreate the design some Heavens members wear, where the sleeves are a different colour to the base of the tee. Personally, I like using Redbubble more but I guess it is always better to leave more options available!

By the way, I would love any feedback you guys may have or any design ideas you may have thought of (I have plenty!).

Thanks for your time

i know your trying to make money but it would be nice if you had this design for download as a jpg. so members could have there own printed up or make them their self (print out, iron on transfer)

Sure, that's not a problem. Here you go:

If anyone would like to add the image to the Dojo gallery, then you are more than welcome to. It's about time I gave something back to this site ;-)

Re: Other Side of the Golden Qr.

The Golden Qr. had so much potential, but I'm guessing a time restraint and/or limitations of the Dreamcast stopped the area from being fully developed. With the rows of 'closed' shops, the Golden Shopping Mall being essentially empty bar the ground floor entertainment and being unable to cross to the other side of the street, it is one of the more disappointing places in Shenmue for me.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda

New Zelda announced for Wii U but Nintendo also just announced Wind Waker HD coming to WiiU this year!!!

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but Wind Waker is my favourite Zelda game.

I don't think a HD update is entirely necessary, but I look forward to it all the same :D

Re: What in the world happened with the KS today?

Awesome Japan have done a truly terrible job.

Firstly the campaign started at too low of a goal. If it had been, say, a 5m target, then we would have 5m+ raised right now. As soon as it hit 2m on the second day, all the urgency was gone. All the publicity was gone. The target had been reached and Shenmue III will be a reality. Yet a week later we find out that 10m is the real goal to aim towards, but who really cares other than us guys? Shenmue III is funded and the story is done and dusted for all the major press...

I'm not going to go into detail about all of the problems with the actual Kickstarter. We all know the video, poor rewards, lack of communication, lack of promotion, lack of description, lack of clarity regarding Sony's involvement etc. have held the project back massively. I actually had a decent level of optimism when I saw that they were doing a Reddit AMA and later a Twitch stream. 'Hey, they're actually promoting via relevant avenues!' I thought. But the AMA got off to a false start and the Twitch 'interview'...oh God...

And then when you realize that these guys, who are managing one of the biggest Kickstarters we're ever going to see, are taking the weekends off... Well all optimism has gone for the KS to reach a target we want. It is quite alarming how naive and incompetent they have been.

When we're sitting down to play Shenmue III and notice all those stretch goals we missed out on, all we'll be thinking is: "fuck you Awesome Japan."

Re: Random Shenmue Thoughts

"Don't you know that blackmail is wayyyyyy uncool?"

I've literally only realised that it is Ryo that says this. I always thought it was Goro/Enoki's sidekick, despite the voice being completely off. It's just such an unnatural line for Ryo to say...

As for the "so what?" line, who knows!
