Re: Shenmue Dojo Twitch Channel - schedule & discussion

We are currently working hard on E3 plans for the channel. Since this will be our first year (and E3 is always a celebration of Shenmue) we want to make it as entertaining and packed full of content as we can.

But at the same time, we are open to suggestions! If anyone has any ideas for content, comments, or anything at all then let us know in here, or PM me if you like. 5 weeks to go, the countdown is on!

Re: Doing something nice for Shenmue III team

I like that. We could make a concession due to expense.

Ideally I'd like to:

- buy the fruit basket AND the flowers from there
- card addressed to BOTH Ys Net and Awesome Japan
- wine but not from there

We should pool our money together. I want to make a gofundme so we can make this really be a Shenmue fan effort. It'll be easier to pool our money too.

How about,"To the Shenmue III team and Awesome Japan, thank you for all of your effort, love, and everything you do. We recognize the team is working hard and sacrificing much to bring us their best. You have our full support and love. From your friends at Shenmue Dojo"?

We still need to do something nice for Cedric. We would not be getting this game if not for Shibuya and they have done this at a great risk. Do they have offices in Japan or just in France? If they have offices in Japan, we can add them to the card. We can ask Cedric when the next time he'll be in Japan to check in on YS Net will be and have it shipped during that time frame.

Re: Doing something nice for Shenmue III team

Let's go all out with the card. Let's have Shenmue fan art for the cover of the card (I can draw something if we don't find anything).

Someone please ask Cedric on twitter when the next time he'll be in Japan at the YS Net offices? Tell him we have a special and delightful surprise for him as fans of the series.

How about we do a collage of everyone holding up a word/character that makes up a phrase, like 皆さん, 頑張って! (Minasan Ganbatte! Everyone do your best!) similar to this:

https://img.gawkerassets.com/img/19cf7y1uzul1zjpg/original.jpg

Then we can print that onto a blank card, and maybe get everyone's signature printed on the back?

Re: Shenmue 3 & E3 2017

Man, that E3 2015 thread. In the run up to the Sony conference, there was just such a good atmosphere. I don't know what it was, but something felt different that year compared to previous years. Good times.
I know what you mean. I wasn't a poster here before E3 2015 but there was a palpable sense of excitement all over the internet. Something about the rumours that year just went viral so that by the time the Kickstarter trailer played at Sony's conference everyone was already going nuts at the mere thought of Shenmue 3. Seeing that trailer and the exciting reaction online afterwards stands out for me as one of my greatest experiences as a gamer.

Re: Shenmue 3 & E3 2017

ARE WE THERE YET!?!? XD

I'm kinda looking forward to it (E3) and I'm kinda not because I'll be a year older just a couple of days after Sony 's E3 and that's always a scary time for me (kinda like new years), so I'm kinda selfishly happy time has slowed to a crawl for now lol.

#IBelieveInYu and I hope everyone here is super happy with the end result of all this :-) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170522/696a4f12fcb72ac1fb564d3fdc3c58f2.jpg

UPDATE: Well butter my onions! Red Dead 2 is delayed till next Spring, I hope this gives Shenmue 3 more of a fighting chance if it's hitting it's target (Red Dead 1 already killed Alan Wake lol )

Re: YSNET officially announce the delay of Shenmue 3.

All opinions are welcome, but keep insulting the development team of Shenmue when they are not here to defend themselves and you won't be around here for much longer, on top of spreading information that I can tell you right now is either very sorely mistaken on your part, or just fathomly made up by yourself in the name of trying poorly to troll.

You show up once a month and spew your negative bile all over the place which does nothing for me but make me feel sorry for you. No one agrees with you, or cares quite frankly.

I don't think I insulted any members of the development team by saying they lack the level of experience needed for a special project like Shenmue 3, especially that any kind of insult to anyone won't be something the community (including myself) would ever appreciate.
On the other hand, Neilo, which is listed as the main developer of Shenmue 3, was founded in 2010 in Japan, and since then, they only developed/released ONE rhythm mobile japan-only game (Orgarhythm was released in 2012 for PSVita and Android) Source . And you can check the full list of the games developed by Suzuki-san to know that his last console game was released in 2003 on the original Xbox; Moreover, the horrible Twitch streams done by AJ alongside many badly-photoshopped officially released images also indicate that they're not professionally done and that's not even close to the level of quality of Shenmue I and II.

I show up once a month indeed mostly alongside the monthly updates, and I try to be realistic with my opinion based on what I see instead of what I dream of, and or course you and everyone else are entitled to totally disagree with everything I said or will ever say ...
You left out one important detail:

[Neilo was]Founded by Takeshi Hirai in 2010, after previously working at Bandai, Irem, and Sega, where he was the lead programmer of the Shenmue series.

So let me get this straight: you're displeased the LEAD PROGRAMMER of Shenmue I and II is working on Shenmue III??

Re: Random Shenmue Thoughts

I found another crazy little detail in Shenmue II. Something that is so ridiculously easy to overlook, it wonders me why they even bothered to put the extra effort into it. In short it's typical Shenmue. And I love it!

The game shuffles around the textures for the cassette tapes in the trash can every time you come to this point.
So the contents of the can will always appear slightly different.

Some insider source about things are trickling into the Sony E3 GAF threads, specifically regarding unannounced IPs.

Anyone a GAF member that wants to speak in that thread to see if the source knows anything related to Shenmue HD?

Re: Damn It Jibby!

It's always a pleasure to watch the streams... when I get chance.

I was on Youtube just the other evening and clicked on to the stream and saw Peter failing the QTE where Ryo & Ren are running away from a chainsaw wielding Yuan. Peter's reaction was priceless - he just let the rest of the QTE play out without even trying, with his face in his palm (exactly what I did at times)

It was also interesting to see that Peter had never seen the part where you fail in a QTE when Dou Niu is chasing you - when he falls and gets stuck in the floor - ending with you fighting some of his cronies.

The "Go on, say it Jibbs" when Peter failed was brilliant, too.... "RIP"

Re: Shenmue Dojo Twitch Channel - schedule & discussion

Hey guys, technically first post but regular viewer and lurked on the site since about 2005 probably. (see edit!)

Decided I would register tonight after that fantastic stream and although e3 was a bit of a downer what a journey we've been on and a huge thank you to Peter for giving me something to look forward to every week for the past half a year!

Can't wait to continue with the streams, whoever takes them on, and keep up to date with you all.

Edit: For a laugh went to the Shenmue 1 and 2 boards and the oldest topics... from 2003. I believe I was around lurking as a wee kid at this time. I recognise names and some things being discussed and even mention of 'old forums' rings a bell. Could be wrong but that just rams home how long we've all waited for this

Mr357's Shenmue Dojo Twitch / Youtube Stream Discussion

Hey guys!

Following on from the epic journey which Peter undertook over the last 6+ months on the Shenmue Dojo Twitch Channel (and in the later stages Youtube Channel) with his live playthroughs of both Shenmue and Shenmue 2, here comes Mr357 to take over proceedings!

You may remember Mr357 as the guy that brought us these incredible fan creations...

Shenmue The Movie -

https://youtu.be/nOs3FX-29Fg

And Shenmue 2 The Movie -

https://youtu.be/3Z5ZgT_ppKU

And his latest creation Shenmue Digest Movie Remake -

https://youtu.be/4mbpaEt-HIo

Starting today, and each Friday hereafter at:

9pm BST/ 4pm EST/ 3pm CST/ 1pm PST

Mr357 will bring you the first part of his Shenmue journey, refreshing the format we've grown to love and enjoy from Peter's streams over the last few months.

Day wise, the most obvious change to the streams is the jump from Thursdays to Fridays, the times that you were used to however have stayed the same!

So we hope you will come join us, for not only a nice friendly chit chat with other Shenmue fans, but to experience Mr357's take on the original Shenmue :)

You can find the stream over at the Shenmue Dojo Twitch Channel -

http://www.twitch.tv/shenmuedojo

Or alternatively over on the Shenmue Dojo Youtube Channel -

Weird, Shenmue 2 in France didn't have French subtitles as far as I know. It's incredibly weird if they translated the game in to Russian but not French...
it was translated by pirates, there are actually different translations exists, but all of them are very low in quality.
also Shenmue I was not only subbed bud also DUBBED! , obviously by pirates, so it all quite hilarious :rotflmao:

Besides all the branding stuff Sega may generate, a Shenmue circuit in Sonic Racing 3 would be fantastic. Yokosuka world on one side, Hong Kong on another side, both separated by a water route with somewhere a Guilin extra place.

Last but not least, can we assume that if SEGA addresses the licensing issues for Shenmue HD, it will allow YsNet to use those licensed brands in Shenmue 3 as well?

What do think, thoughts? ( )
Hmm interesting thought, but if I'm honest I don't think SEGA really have any intention to associate or assist with Shenmue III any more than they have to.

Sometimes I wish I could be able to listen to what's going on in SEGA's and YsNet offices.

Shenmue III @Gamescom '17 Discussion - That's All, Folks

http://i.imgur.com/e2x3CfQ.jpg

https://pending.me.uk/cd/bla_1503388800.png

http://abload.de/img/sequenz01_1lob47.gif

THE NEWS

~*~NEW~*~ 27th July - YSnet announces they will be hosting a meet n' greet session with Yu Suzuki in the entertainment area, and also confirms that an update with the "Latest news about Shenmue III" revealed in the business area will be available via Kickstarter and the Shenmue III website.

13th July - YSnet announces via the KS they will be showing the game in the business area of the event restricted from public entry ( please note, the update does specify that backers will be able to get the "latest on-site information" through games media outlets ), but are attempting to put together an event for fans attending the show via the public areas. It is also confirmed Yu Suzuki will personally be in attendance.

THE BASICS

YSnet announced in the June 2017 Kickstarter update that they will be taking Shenmue III this August to Gamescom in Germany, saying "While we are still working out the details with our partners, we plan to show our newest movie clips, share the latest updates and even make some new announcements."

Cedric Biscay has said via Twitter that Shibuya Productions, primary financier and one of Shenmue III's marketing partners, will not be the ones showcasing Shenmue III at the event, and that further details will be available "soon".

Sony, YSnet's other known marketing partner, have not confirmed a Gamescom presence but have recently hinted that a conference may be in the works for the show.

THE SPECULATION

Could YSnet be bringing a trailer to Gamescom? While it's impossible to know the style of the video YSnet will be using to show off the game, I think we can all safely assume Gamescom will end up being the most revealing look at the game we've had.

According to resident translator Switch, the plural "movie clips" in the English version of the update is intentional, as the author would have to check the meaning with whoever wrote the Japanese version; as apparently the language doesn't make a plural distinction. If we are to take it at face value that the English author followed this process, we can assume there will be more than one Shenmue III video coming out of Gamescom.

Shenmue HD has been rumoured for a very long time, but in the last year the anticipation has reached fever pitch with domain registrations, endless "insider" info, and SEGA themselves expressing a desire to make it. SEGA have kept Shenmue III at arm's length since it was announced two years ago, and we have no evidence the dynamic of this relationship has changed, let alone that Shenmue HD truly exists. So... keep expectations in check.

There are plenty of "cleaning house"-style announcements to make in regards to rewards fulfilment, pledge upgrades, and how long the Slacker Backer site will continue to be open for. Will they be part of the announcements made during Gamescom? Possibly. We can at least hope they are addressed in the KS updates following the event.

This thread is for discussion, speculation, and breaking news. HUGE news will warrant its own thread, but in most cases I will just change the title of this topic to reflect the current developments, and add a kind of newsfeed to the OP to keep people up to speed.

Big thanks to Kiske for the banner. Happy posting!
