Re: 2015: Justice League VS Avengers 2

Plus, DC gets a lot of shit for having so many heroes in Gotham. Has anyone ever been able to count the number of Marvel's based in New York?

People have beef with there being a lot of heroes in Gotham? My gosh, if I lived in a shit hole as twisted as that, with all the villains and crazies on every square block just waiting to freeze me into an ice cube or tangle me up in crazy vines with minds of their own (I might like that, actually), you can be sure I'd want to get as many god damned heroes as I could damn well my hands on.

Re: Where did Henry Go?

Eh come on, it can't be that difficult. Make sure people follow the rules, which at the 'Dojo I'm guessing simply means; making sure people's little rucks don't turn into all-out forum war (preferably by extinguishing the flames as soon as you notice them start), moving topics posted in the wrong area, merging stuff that doesn't need to be separate, and finally by keeping an eye out for bots and other undesirables which only join up to advertise things.

Amirite?

Becoming mod can carry a brief elation, though it is shortly lived. It can fracture friendships, as well as the way people you never had a problem with personally look at you. There comes a point were the fatigue from having to be "the decider" in matters of unending drama can take their toll. And it's never the black and white situations that are complicated, it's the thousands of shades of gray in between. There will be times when your knee-jerk reaction to snot faced members trying to call you out leaves you wanting to bop them in the nose, but you can't. A mod always has to be above fanning the flames of drama and has to be reserved in their responses. I think being given a mod title can be associated with prestige, or it being an honor in most regulars minds. But at the end of the day, putting out fires and taking flack for doing so can gradually over the years make you a little bitter to the point where there is no such "status" with being a mod any more, it's only worth it if you really love the community and want to help keep it healthy even if people come to resent you for doing so. The effect is subtle over time I suppose, but it is cumulative, like a snow ball effect. Think of it as being Batman, only not as cool. :P

Re: Where did Henry Go?

I once contemplated suicide. Hell, even now life is and always will be tough with exceptionally little in the way of reprieves. But when my world came crashing down all around me and I had no choice but to stop being in denial over feeling like a woman on the inside, that brought me to a dark place I was not prepared to deal with or preserver through one little bit. Even after being in denial, feeling trapped, like in a prison with no hope for parole or escape very nearly pushed me over the edge. A lot of people think taking your own life is cowardly. It practically means nothing to say you're thinking about it. I hear people say things like that all the time. Ironically I never told anyone, until now, and probably came a lot closer than those that did. Personally, I think it takes an awful lot of nerve to suppress that natural instinct of self preservation and go through with finally pulling the trigger than most would imagine. Ultimately though it's because of cases like this, when everyone you touched in your life loses it in their own downward spiral in the face of your demise that I think I could not see it through.

Re: Where did Henry Go?

Heya Henry. I'm so very sorry to hear about the friend. Some may disagree, but I think if your friend worked up the will to take their life, then the emotional turmoil they must have been dealing with must have been absolutely terrible and you should take some small shred of consolation in the fact that they are likely in a better place now. What is important to do now is to not blame yourself. Your friend would not want you slipping down into your own downward spiral. Be strong. Sometimes the people closest to us are taken from us long before their time.

Seems pretty cool, had no idea what it was until now. Level 5 and Suda51 cant be bad combination. Shame its just a eshop download though... BUT its only 7.99. The graphics seem... lackluster for the 3DS though, seems like it should be a regular DS game graphically. The anime cut scenes look nice though.

nice.

Re: TMNT 2012 Episode 1 & 2

One of these days I wish we could have an animated version that had the darker feel of the comic. I just can't get past the obnoxious drive to appeal to the mouth drooling aged kids with this one. It's not to say turtles needs blood and guts exploding everywhere like Fist of The North Star or anything, but I still think it was pushing the envelope in the WB series when the Shredder's end came with Leonardo decapitating him with his katana. (And the Shredder had actually been introduced as a potential fighter of evil in the beginning before showing more of an insidious side to his motives, giving his character more depth, in addition to showing his intellect as being every bit as potent a weapon as his bladed fists than in other incarnations) You would NEVER see something like that in other animated versions of the show. The ninja turtle weapons may as well be for show, they can't really use them to inflict any amount of harm onto anything not a robot.

Re: How do you imagine the final fight between Lan Di and Ry

Ryo trains for years and years to become the perfect killing machine and finally confronts Lan Di. They battle for 5 days and 5 nights until their bodies become hopelessly mangled. With their minds still sharp but their bodies broken, the battle escalates into an Arcade where their battle continues in the form of a game of wits in Hang On and Space Harrier. (This is the part where you realize why Ryo had to play all those games up until now throughout the entire saga, to prepare himself for this moment) Ryo's Hang On skills in the end prove superior and Lan Di grudgingly admits defeat.

Before dying from getting served however, he reveals the two Mirrors are actually in fact an old Chinese time machine. Ryo looks in the mirror and sees that after the years he spent training, HE is in fact the original Iwao and looks just like him. Resigning himself to his fate, Ryo makes the best of a bad situation by snagging a Sega Saturn video game system and some bitchin' Virtua Fighter posters from the 90's before finally heading back to the 80's to sustain the timeline.

No, you weren't, and TEEPO's doing the same thing. What's sad is that in the "build-up" to both your recent unbannings, I pointed to the fact that youz are both a lot older than you were in the old days, but as far as shit on the internet goes, neither of you have changed much, and it's sad. The baiting's blatant, the jokes aren't funny, the topics are so nonsensical they could be screenshot alongside your claim that you actually want to have a serious debate then uploaded to memegenrator to be tagged with "seems legit".

Youz were both funny once upon a time, but now your posts just warrant facepalms and FAILS.

Re: Things That Made You Genuinely Happy Today!

I think the thing I'm most glad about this election is that 6 billion dollars later, the chips landed right where they started with. The billionaires with large financial stakes in filling the war cabinets of their favored politicians basically got no return for their efforts. Anything that discourages the elite few to blow a gigantic bank on super pacs in an attempt to have disproportionate influence over politics than everyone else is a good thing in my opinion. If only we could do away with the lobbyists and special interest groups.

Re: Random Thoughts! v2.0

I'm the opposite, I don't so much mind a candidate with a religion different from my own. But I did question his leadership. It's just that he doesn't seem to want to "guide" the mob. He wants to be part of the mob. That for me is a concern when the GOP continuously shifts further and further to the right. I suspect a candidate as "Go with the flow" as Romney from one week to the next would not take the reigns of the party and get them back on course, on the contrary. I suspect it would have been the party puppeteering him.

That and whole "I have a great plan but I can't talk about it/I have tax loopholes in mind to close but I can't say what they were" ect didn't help matters. What little of his plan he did tell us anything about involved shrinking the deficit through ballooning military spending and slashing taxes. It seems so hard to reconcile from the math side of things to the point where if those were the things he was willing to talk about, what kinds of things was he planning that he wouldn't talk about? Ah well, election over. I'm glad to be 2 and a half years away from being bombarded with political ads again.

Re: Anyone miss practical effects in films?

I miss em'. Practical effects seem to stand the test of time. Star Wars for instance still looks classy. The films hold up significantly better than the early 80's-90's cgi films that just look awful awful awful. Cgi is the kind of think that looks impressive at the time, but awful a year or two down the road. The star wars Special Edition is good example of this. 90's cgi looks woefully out of place at best, and god damned terrible at worst.

I for one approve of people that may have worked a very degrading line of work in their early lives later trying to make something of themselves with more reputable and respectable roles, public service among them. It breaks up the monotony of the wrinkly old geysers born with a silver spoon in their mouths telling us about how much they care about all us regular folk.
