Created some hi-res Shenmue logo PNGs for general use.

Hey, I was going to do some fan-graphic design but couldn't find any high res PNGs on a quick Google search. I probably didn't look very hard though tbh. So if there are already tons of similar logos out there, then fair enough, never mind. :)

Either way, I ended up making my own. They're not perfect but if you scale them down to normal web-sizes they should look ok.

I'm posting them here so people can be free to use a high-res logo however they wish. In youtube banners, twitch overlays, facebook, twitter etc.

And here's a fanart boxart I did for good measure showing all graphics together. Shows how they look scaled down.

Edit: If anyone is looking for something specific let me know in the replies. Like if you want a twitch banner at A x B dimensions with image C and the logo in the middle etc.

Edit2: As a bonus, here's a high res box art of Sonic 3 (Japanese version)

I made this as a christmas present for a friend, and there's lots of sega fans here so I suppose I'll include it here. Feel free to use it, or get a print of it etc. if you so wish.

Re: Shenmue faceplate reward for PS4 ?

Was bored. Made a quick mockup picture of what one could look like? (Like the Yakuza example shown above)

I think a plate would be a little unsubstantial as a reward though... unless they're limited to Kickstarter only and each one's signed by Yu Suzuki.

Re: $20,000 pledge for the future of our Guilin school.

That sounds really amazing.

I do have a concern however, and don't wish to sound disrespectful in voicing it... Since I respect everything you're doing. You are certainly a better human being than I.

Basically, I worry for your wallet. I wonder if you've perhaps put up $10k for something you've assumed, rather than something promised to you. That you see your pledge as an investment rather than a donation. I hope you get your wish of course, but I also hope you accept the possibility that you may not get that wish. Yu Suzuki may be unable to make exceptions with the rewards, or allow you to use the credits for promotional purposes. If you're fine with that then fair enough. But if you're not fine with that, then I would recommend reaching out ASAP to seek confirmation.

It certainly doesn't hurt to ask though, so more power to you of course. In fact, I hope he not only grants your request, but even moves you to a brand new reward tier "Be a villager NPC for $10k". (Hmm... that's if it makes sense for other non-chinese villagers to exist in Shenmue III). That would generate more pledges and also open up a new empty slot on the Chi You Men reward too.

(Btw, what's wrong with being a villain in Shenmue? It's just a bit of fun after all. It doesn't reflect on your character in real life :) )

Obviously not the mirror version, but this dragon graphic is now done. Will update my original post.

Re: Shenmue 3d/2d Art Download

Your epic render inspired me to do a quick-ish B+W painting study based on it :P

Re: How will Shenmue III start?

I think it would be a good idea to redo the end of Shenmue II as a tutorial. Albeit truncated so it doesn't take forever to get back to where we left the story.

Not only so we have a point of reference to see all of the lovely graphical and gameplay improvements over the original, but as a starting point for newcomers.

If I could decide how to start the game, I'd go with...
...the very first cutscene of Shenmue I, redone in UE4 to get every newcomer up to speed on Ryo's motivations and send nostalgic chills down the spines of old fans. Then Ryo would wake up from his flashback/nightmare in the first cave to Shenhua singing.

They'd then head off to her house, briefly talking about why Ryo needs to go to Bailu on the way. Introduce basic gameplay like walking/climbing in this 1st interactive segment. At the house, reveal the Shenmue tree via cutscene. Reveal the importance of the Phoenix mirror again via Shenhua's father's drawing (2nd interactive segment, exploring rooms), and they'd make their way to the cave with some tutorial QTEs on the way (3rd interactive segment).

Then, after the cliffhanger ending, it will fade to black and say, again, "The story goes on...". And then personally I'd love to (as someone pointed out above) have it fade back in to Japan, at Ryo's house when Ryo is a kid or something. Nice, peaceful music plays after the dramatic music in the cave. He gets a life lesson from Iwao that's relevant to what's going on in the cave. You get a brief chance to explore Ryo's house again in UE4. And then it returns to China with Ryo and Shenhua on their way to the village (maybe inside the entrance to the cave so you get that satifaction of walking out of it, with the light being ridiculously bright as you walk toward it).

Rueben Kee's arrangement in Shenmue 3?

Hey guys, this was just a little idea that crossed my mind. I'm sure many of the people here are familiar with this guy, his musical talent, and the sad news of his passing. I never knew the dude, I never commented on his videos, I never gave his video a thumbs up, I even don't know a thing about him. I just remember listening to his music, many years ago. I also learned his arrangement of Shenmue on piano because I liked it so much (and boy do I pale in comparison...). In light of Shenmue III's announcement, it has been rather sad to remember he'll not be around for it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mN4QFpKauq0 Here's his arrangement of Shenmue Reflections.

My idea was, wouldn't it be cool if his arrangement could be implemented into Shenmue III some how? Maybe we could pass the idea along to Cedric Biscay for consideration. That way his passion for the game and its music could live on and be heard by the many thousands who will play Shenmue III. Or perhaps even using his actual performance in the credits or something? (it's surprisingly high quality for a 2007 youtube video).

Anyhow, just throwing that idea out there. I just thought it would be cool to see. It would be really inspiring to know his arrangement or performance of the Shenmue theme blaring through the speakers in homes across the world.

Re: What arcade games would you like to see in Shenmue 3?

There needs to be a Dreamcast in the game with copies of Shenmue I and II you can buy. 8)

Re: Gamespot : Is Shenmue a Good Game? - The Lobby

Laughed at the comment at 11.47... "No-one really wants to play this game".

- Caused Kickstarter's servers to go down when the campaign launched.
- Hit 1 million in under two hours.
- Most backed / most funded video game on Kickstarter, beating Megaman and SotN successors.

Not bad for a niche dreamcast game, but I guess he's right nobody wants to play Shenmue.

Re: Shenmue III Logo Poll

I definitely would prefer the original font, and I think it needs to appear in the game. But I understand the reason to change it on the boxart (hopefully nowhere else). I'm not too keen on slightly altering the original logo in order to make it more legible. What makes the original so great is the beautiful cursive writing, and so I don't feel it should be touched, or something similar should be created. So a completely different logo on the boxart would be preferable IMO. I tried to just think of something really simple, but sort of classic, to fit in with the theme of shenmue and this is what I came up with. Just a basic serif font almost as if it's not a logo at all, but simply a translation of the original japanese logo.
