Re: What are your hobbies?

taking subject seriously, honesty is paramount.
1, gaming, a given. (like masturbation, it's done in privacy, a taboo where i live. i don't multiplay online, not my bag.)
2, music and recording studios (using amiga computers and ams-neve equipment, lucky i know folks, the co$t for that setup is beyond reasoning..and my ability to foot the bill.)
3, reading and eating.
4, drugs, and general substance abuse, why not?! (not hurting anybody...least of all myself)
5, lesbian porn, anything else just makes me puke.
6, after irl responsibilities, rinse and repeat. :P

Re: Japanese guide book scans

:?:
got the 'VERSUS' pdf document/guide of the first game right HERE at my mediashit account. (.7z. 70.7m, expanded 79.9m)
...
WORD OF WARNING!
as really cool as the item is, IT WILL CHUNK YOUR BROWSER IF USING SOME POS COMPUTER...EVEN HEWLETT PACKARD INTEL JUNK!
slow the computer to a crawl, so use a good handler/EDITOR to view this document, like 'adobe pdf view' or 'directory opus' for example. (D-O with relative binary plugin of course)
...
quite a good quality scan, should've supplied it with the gdi's ripped... :???: (coulda, woulda, shoulda!)
wasn't able to find the second scan, the link you supplied is fucked, for now...it seems?! (confirmed. symptoms exactly as described, when download tab is hit, it just spins on it, then shits out without any indication of an attempt.)
anyway, do as you will, have fun!

Re: Gamespot : Is Shenmue a Good Game? - The Lobby

saw the word 'gamespot' and written it off on that alone.
don't need no RAG to suggest (aka: TELL) me what game is good, or bad.
on that, they miss the point like a bunch of retards...
back in the day of floppy disks and data cassettes, the rags were getting totally wrong for this user.
(eg: rag = that shmup isn't a good game, it got the title for nothing. me = i disagree wholeheartedly, the game was good, way to go for speaking for a planet of gamers, dickheads.)
nahh, regardless of what's said, the rags can NEVER taint a game for me. (and if i taken their onion seriously, i'd be some sort of MI5 patsy by now.) :???:

Re: What was the one thing you found unique about Shenmue?

obviously, the game as a whole.
if there was any shortcomings, i'd have flung the disks out the goddamn window. (and made it my mission to off ** ******)
...
the ONE thing that stood out for me, was the technical side of it, not that i'm a coder. (but a hardware guy.)
if betamax vs vhs was an example, but betamax failed, then dreamcast was the same.
shemnue took that machine to new levels, graphics and gameplay (music too) in that case could only be attained on high-end computers.
it was WAYYYYY ahead of it's time. (i do occasionally fire it up, and even though one and a half decades has passed, still have the same appreciation for it.
then again, i'm a commodore guy at heart, and know a good thing when i see it! (in my opinion.)
...
not commenting on story, can't be fucked with headache from users, so they can fill that blank.
it's what the game brought to the cast, including itself. :-k 8)

Re: Latest Purchases

:?: ^do you do this sort of thing for a living? It sounds like you should, you seem to have an amazing knowledge and genuine practical skills of electronics and computers... (quoted, in silicon)
as much as i would love that, creating expansion boards from scratch, using copyrighted diagrams, or to be accurate, source chips that aren't generic:
1, serious industrial equipment for pcb's on that detail and scale. (cad and robotics knowledge are highly recommended, i'm in baby steps...no i'm not, i'm an egg.)
2, accurate 1/1 parts.
mirror chip clones would work if the layouts were identical.
...
to build amiga expansion card, FROM SCRATCH is nothing short of matrix like skills, and resources.
...
yeah!
of course, i's LOVE to see what the next post on this specific subject will be... :king:

tried a repair, but no nearer.

Re: Nationalities of the dojo members

 SPPV/saint petersburg premium vodka , fucks me up on a dime, and good for a solvent for specific cleaning jobs.
try this in yer vodka:
get a new bottle, tip out roughly a third of the volume (drink it, no waste. :P ) and replace with the same volume of some good block, like a dutch hash, or well ground up pot. (more potent the weed, the better.)
seal up the bottle, and put it in a cupboard, at room temperature.
leave it for four to six months.
return to it and you'll have some of the most wackiest hallucinations this side of sol. (not like acid is freely available, like it was once. pull rank to get that shit!)

Re: Shenmue 2 Full English Xbox Speech mod for Sega Dreamcas

Isn't ImgBurn the preferred method for Dreamcast burning now, or is Alcohol 120% just a personal preference of yours? ^^ still depends?
to keep it simple, this is the world of optical media, it's complete bullshit, but we carry on regardless.
i use imgburn ( < for dreamcast iso/cdi image handling) anytodvd, dvddecryptor, isobuster, clonecd, and had total failures with discjuggler, and drunkyhol 240%proof%.
what works for some, isn't uniform. (the net has too much info to back that up)
advice above is completely valid, and shared (i would assume) based on personal experiences. (and in some cases, writers/hardware is an issue with some programs/optical drive controllers.) :?: 8-[
...
try with any of the three standard tools for dreamcast backup disk writing, one will give.

Re: Why bother with monogamous relationships at all?

:???: odd subject, but when in rome, right?!
...
some of us are WAYYY late to that game, and playing it, or not.
...
nobody tells me what to do, and get away with it, or i them.
clearly, humanity isn't likely to go extinct if some bug-out and follow their own paths, and there's more than enough simpering couples strutting stuff in public, shoving it in faces, they're better off. (yeah, matter of perspectives.)
nahh!
it's not the 1/1 i have issues with, it's trust, and that got flushed down the bog when i opened up eyes to the world.
....
won't be a twat and shack up, like my own bed to self, own territory and possessions, and do generally anything without consequence, or prior consultations.
...
this one says NAY, but it's obviously not endemic to the point human society genetic demise. (although, in my mind, that ship already fuckin sail and got torpedoed by the french navy, like a greenpeace carrier in the 80's.)
...
as long as the lines aren't crossed, where society DEMANDS 'you're a couple, or you rape kids. only good peeps are paired' couldn't care any less if tried.
it's up to the person if they want to take a fuckin risk with little, to diminishing returns, not my problem, i'm just living my life without their approvals...and genuinely, wouldn't shed a tear if i never saw overt petting again. (they have no stake, nor i do theirs, EVEN STEVENS/separate paths. i'm keeping what i have to myself, not sharing on blind trust, gotta EARN it first. who am i kidding?! never giving it out.)

Re: Disc 2 error

yep, this subject screams one thing:
gdi assembly not reading the disk properly.
if you can get a optical drive cleaner, run it through the drive a few times, and try again.
(the cleaner is like an audio disk, but with a pair of drive head brushes on the disk. comes with a small bottle of ispropyl for the brushes. a drop on each. )
...
if the issue persists, and the disk reading gets harder, it's possible the laser requires a pot calibration?
but one step at a time... :P

Re: Story Arcs in Shenmue III and Beyond

 (either it's all or nothing. no such thing as partial certainty.)
good question.
honestly, if the team hold true to the humanity and realistic emulation to the game, ryo's in for a world of shit.
then again, he's been relatively stoic so far.
maybe he's already at his lowest (mentally speaking) and it's yet to manifest itself.
how that happens, anybodys guess.
...
the tech was much older, only so many dimensions to the characters, not so much so now, the sky is the limit.
...
if the world encounter aspect is to be added to in general, i can see some event occurring that tips him over the edge, like some random public white night getting it wrong/sticking beaks into his biz, or a copper/police official abusing his arbitrary authority. (for example)
could be that he gets news from back home, and it isn't as cosy as he maybe expecting. (hope is one of mans greatest evils, it enslaves on false promises/premise and deals devastating blows to ids and egos when they had nothing left to lose in the first place.)
ryo is trying to get to the bottom of it all, and put an end to the bastard that caused his loved ones to suffer...and for what?
a trinket, a plate made of jade?
oh yeah, lan-di's gonna get it alright.
...
like any long drawn out story that does a good job emulating 'life' ryo will undoubtedly have his own version of 'pick me ups' by way of stuff going right for him/quick resolve with minimal collateral damage.
...
i suppose he could end up a substance abuser...for a bit?
all to play for.
as for predictions on my side, couldn't really say what his highs and lows will be, but they will be a rollercoaster ride/sinewave. :P

Re: Amazing Acts of Kindness from Strangers

honestly, absolutely none.
unless you count it as basic human decency/empathy.
where you was, the majority wanted to be there (the concert) and that's the difference.
on the streets, never seen it.
that said, a year ago, an old lady had fallen over and cracked her skull on the floor.
she was surrounded and a huge bloke was rifling through her pockets and handbag.
i called the police and the ambulance, a1+ to the authorities for being on-point, and helped the old woman.
turn out, NOBODY in the vicinity even bother do make a call. (why i did, the police confirmed it.)
the lady was grateful for saving her from the public parasites, and i went to crown court to back up my statements (written) and the police claim to be actively seeking the ones caught on CCTV (public) to imprison them.
...
on that day, after the scene died down, i was surrounded by meathead idiots demanding an answer:
do you feel good you did a good deed?
are you better than us?
my response:
absolutely NOT!
you sicken me to the core, pulling a judgment for something that's basic human decency, and trying to make me feel bad because i'm NOT one of you CONSERVATIVE working class SLAVE type scum .
i didn't see any of you help out. if you're going to attack me, do it before i call the police again.
nothing happened, they skulked away.
...
no, not seen any evidence, but i wasn't at a concert, or a gathering where virtually all that's there, want to be there.
on the streets, nobody wants to be there, they have to because reasons/life.
...
folks are helpful if they wanted to be there in the first place, like other venues.
...
won't stop me making the call, as i expect the same when the chips are down. (reality is different.)
...
good post!

Re: Amazing Acts of Kindness from Strangers

^^ agreed!
...
@ Hyo Razuki .
honestly, i wasn't brave, but merely stupid. (just wanted to stick it to the massively built thugs.)
the odds were stacked against me, and i was braced for an all-out brawl involving glass bottles, dead serious.
my motives were simple:
i don't wanna live in a world where the old or weakened are a target, and the masses are fine with that.
what riku said about hid old man, i was in the same frame of mind...i think?! (i can't account for the man, but i bet he was livid and any member of the public got a bright idea, he'd probably have took their heads right off. that's the frame of mind i was in myself.)
i'm a violent person by nature, or should i say, RESOLVE! (very few folks where words and reasoning count, so the extra 'talk' is usually a last resort.)
...
i have no hope, but i do recognize results, and the more positive they are, the better for us all at the end of the day.
in any case, thanks for sharing.

Re: Finally finished Disc 2...

good reading!
...
in fairness, you did far more than i did, got a lot more items.
...
there's an s2 no-miss guide here at SD, just need the s1 equal too. (absolutely nutty full-writ by a staffer here, well done it seems.)
i need to go through s1 when time permits (been slammed, and uploading roms too) from top to bottom, get all possible items, moves and conflabs between npc/key characters.
that's the thing about s1 and 2, fuckup or miss something (and you save) it brands the save, and s2 takes that into account if you do use an s1 save.
thb, i don't think i've tried s2 on the dreamcast without bootlegging the s1 save over. (PSO and PSO v2 do the same in that regard.)
as xbox doesn't allow export of a dreamcast save (that i know of) i would assume the same starting no-save package is the same?! (ryo's default items from a new game)
...
oh, and agreed, vga/dvi is a fantastic upgrade to all the prior video modes the dreamcast puts out.
thanks for posting your progress, made for good eye-candy. :king:
