All the fan communities (Dojo/TeamYu, Shenmue Master, Gameblog) seem to have cooperated with each other to get the most complementary interviews. Great job guys.

I can't wait to watch the interview, especially Yu's secret part!

By the way... I won TeamYu Magic Monaco pass during today's Tweetathon

Re: Yu Suzuki interview by Shenmue Dojo & Team Yu (MAGIC 201

If it's a readability problem - Western kids not being able to read joined-up writing (first I've heard of that) - then why not just keep the original logo and seperate the letters?

Come on, Yu. Sort it out! The original logo is iconic.
The Papyrus logo looks actually like a convenient attempt to make the original one separated. They might wait the work of a professional designer to do a proper conversion/new version before the first official trailer.

The original logo was deeply significant to me but if that's his will, I can deal with it. This part explains it well:
With the word being unfamiliar to all other languages, perhaps at least making it more easily readable is an important step to avoid premature dismissal by casual browsers of game store shelves.

It's not really a question of readability but fast-readability and easy-memorizing. YSnet have probably been advised by Sony or another marketing expert while Yu wants to do everything in his power to prevent Shenmue III from poor sales.

I agree with your analysis.
But there must be a different way to make the word S-h-e-n-m-u-e more readable.
It's just my personal opinion... I can't stand the papyrus font, especiallly versus the original one. :???:

http://i.imgur.com/DCWjEBO.jpg

I don't say the last font is better than the papyrus but only that it take 5 minutes to do something playing around with a standard font set.

Anyway, if that the only thing we have to "complain about" by the end of the development, I'm more than happy

Re: Shenmue III Logo Poll

I like it squall. Good job.

It would definitely be a good idea to have a public "logo contest" launched by YsNet/AJ in a future Kickstarter update. Sure the perfect new logo would come to life thanks to the passionate fans.
Provided that the original logo really has to evolve...

Re: Shenmue III Logo Poll

I played a little bit with the original logo.

I'm not satisfied with the result, not enough space after applying borders... but the idea would be to keep the cursive font with some separation in between the letters.

Re: PAYPAL SUPPORT FOR SHENMUE 3 NOW LIVE!

Hi Vitoner,

The graph below shows the Slacker Backer state as of today, 15th of April 2016.

http://i.imgur.com/g7DE0Xh.jpg

I made a quick calculation:
With 10 new backers per day pledgind 60$ each, it will take 666.66 days to reach $7,000,000...

In other words, we will NEVER reach the next stretch goal unless something BIG happens before the release of Shenmue 3 :-o

Thank you very much for your comments and suggestions guys :)

I'm done here... can't spend more time on this cause it's making me crazy

I made a last version based on your comments, still not perfect (I kind of distorted some letters) but decent enough to show in which direction we would YsNet to go with the logo.

I may send this one to @Shenmue_3 if I find the courage... will see were it goes. (In the trash can probably :P )

Re: PAYPAL SUPPORT FOR SHENMUE 3 NOW LIVE!

I've been tempted too this last days to make a pledge and put the 6.6M$ mark behind us!
Since baby number two is expected very soon now, my wife would have killed me though
Do you want your kid to grow up in a world where Shenmue 3 didn't make 6.6 million on Friday the 29th? It would be irresponsible not to donate!

Don't make me think about the world my kids are going to grow in... :-&

...

When they will be grown up enough, I will make them play Shenmue. So educative!

1. Avenge your father if needed!
2. Don't forget to feed the cat!
3. Remove your dirty shoes when coming home!
4. Arcades are cool and the only bike you will ever ride is the one from Hang-On.
5. Daddy used to listen to music on a device called "tape player".
5b. That doesn't mean daddy is old. It means daddy has a lot of experience.
6. Girls are overrated...
7. Sailors are hard to find, especially 500 miles away from the Sea!
8. If you think it's boring to drive a forklift all day, you better have good grades at school!
9. No, Ine-San CANNOT work for us!
10. Gollum, Chai and Oncle Benny are NOT the same person!
11. Yes, you need to finish your carrots!
12. You want to do call pranks? Use a public phone!

Man... I love Shenmue.

Re: Random Shenmue III Thoughts

In your opinion, did Cédric Biscay say too much this time?

http://i.imgur.com/P1w7bJX.jpg

Q: Why not launch a crowdfunding for the Xbox One version? It's a shame to do without 20 million of players.

A: The PS4 has console exclusivity.

Q: Did Sony buy the exclusivity? The Kickstarter FAQ's says Xbox One version is not impossible.

If true/confirmed, what could a strong Sony PS4 exclusivity mean for the future (and the past) of the Shenmue franchise?

Re: E3 2016 & Shenmue 3

One month to raise our hopes, one month to rule them (out) :-#

Please play my game!

"Reasons why to expect Shenmue 3 or even better... a Shenmue HD annoucement!"

1. Yu Suzuki presence in LA for the Kickstarter dinner reward.
2. PayPal Slacker Backer page still up and waiting for events like E3 to gain visibility.
3. Rumoured presence of Sega Europe at E3. Great occasion for Suzuki/Sony/Sega discreet meetings.
4. Sega Europe #AskSEGA campaign. Inconceivable (imo) that they didn't anticipate the #SaveShenmueHD effect.
5. Adam Boyes Twitter account banner. Unchanged since last E3...
6. Shenmue 3 teasers from Magic Monaco never "officially" released.
7. Ryuji Iuchi's "private demo music for that demo movie's scene": https://soundcloud.com/ryujiiuchi/erhu
8. Lack of new Ryo, Shenhua, etc... models since E3 2015 trailer.

Game rules? Simply undermine every point of the list.

Sub-game rules? Find other good reasons why to expect Shenmue 3 or Shenmue HD at E3. :king:

Re: E3 2016 & Shenmue 3

Almost 1 year after the big KS success and they are still "investigating" how to solve licence issues and make the game?

"Investigating" smells like a pr response made to nor confirm the thing and neither deny it, which saves them from the anger of fans if they denied it.

The fact is, Sega never gaved an official answer about Shenmue HD.
I'll take this "investigating" status with a measured enthusiasm.
We could expect 2 kind of answers from the #AskSega thing: No or the one they gaved.

If they ever announce Shenmue HD, they certainly won't spoil it days or month before the event they have chose to make such announcement. May be E3, TGS or even PSX at this point (hopefully in 2016).

SEGA Europe statement is a good start... They say they want to do the remasters and want to do them right.

Re: Random Shenmue III Thoughts

A few words on Mighty No. 9 final rush.

It seems that FanGames is taking care of the rewards for the backers.
Is it the same company taking care of the Shenmue 3 rewards?

Anyway, last monday, Comcept sent a plateform Survey to the backers.
There was already a Survey last year apparently, but it will not be taken into account so every eligible backer has to fill the new Survey again.

The Survey link they sent last monday had an issue and so yesterday they started a new Survey.
According to the Mighty No. 9 updates (comments) section, the situation is very confusing for backers and a lot of them are pretty angry, to say the least.

On top of that, backers have a deadline (May 29) in order to fill the Survey, otherwise they will get a steam code for the PC version.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mightyno9/mighty-no-9/posts/1578128

My point is, I really, really really hope that AJ/YsNet/FanGames will handle the rewards for Shenmue 3 backers in a proper way. The bad press around Mighty No. 9 is huge and now, with the rewards problems they are facing, even the fans are losing faith in Inafune and Comcept.

Shenmue 3 doesn't need this... hopefully everything will go fine... even if there will be around 75,000 backers if not more in the end.

Personally, I'm not that fussed about monthly updates. I'd rather they update when there's something substantial enough to show. Last month it seemed like they were clutching at straws to share something. An update every few months would suffice.

Agree.

Re: Kickstarter Update #56 - May Update

Really happy with the update.

Actually, I would love to read more about Toshihiko Masada work on Shenmue 3 but overall, I think they manage the updateds well. It's still soon to show much about the game and giving us updates on the team members is fine. As Peter says, we are definitely in good hands.

The lack of big udpate in the last couple of month AND the lack of E3 "No Show" statement makes me pretty positive that we are going to get a big update soon. If not during E3 itself, around Kickstarter launch anniversary.

One year in the "development" is a milestone after all and according to comments I've read lately on the internet, only a few news about Shenmue 3 made it to the public (except for the backers and Die Hard fans of course).

Last but not least, the Shenmue 3 US Playstation Store page still needs a video, which as the moment, is private.

Re: Kickstarter Update #56 - May Update

It's interesting that the cutscene he's storyboarding in these shots is the same one we saw last year at E3 (and to date the only true cutscene footage we've ever seen). I wonder if these are old images they threw at us to go with the news that he's taking a more active role with the team going forward. These shots could very well be over a year old.

I'm starting to seriously think that they are holding as much as they can the (public) status of development pace they are following.
That's very very good imo. Being a Kickstarter project with such pressure on it, it's a good strategy to come out with big forward steps when they decide to show something. In the meanwhile, most of the people just assume it's still very early stage of development and don't expect too much from them.

The last two Cédric tweets are confirming this feeling I have... my hopes for a big update anytime soon are raising

"Dynamic seeds" sounds intriguing. (At least that's what I think the most likely translation is.)

Yep.
If your translation is true, that basically means that they're attempting to reproduce what they did in Shenmue II with the Magic Maze (buildings, forest) to the NPC's faces of Shenmue III.

I'm wondering what results could the Magic Maze Process give on NPC faces...

Re: E3 2016 & Shenmue 3

Cédric is pretty harsh on this one. I don't see where the media are specially wrong here.

It's hard to say, but later in the discussion Cédric says it's "clickbait".

Since his answer is from June 1st and the "article" was out yesterday only (June 9), I can understand why he's somehow p***ed off.

The other aspect, imo, is that Cédric's intention when he posted the first tweet ("Sorry for the teasing but I am playing #shenmue3 and I am loving it !! :)" ) was actually to tease Shenmue 3 near the E3/Kickstarter anniversary.
The fact that the article conclusion is "there will probably be NO Shenmue 3 gameplay at E3" is kind of bad press (gamers need to know where their money went, blabla...) and of course, that wasn't Cédric's plan.

I'm convinced there will be a "surprise" at E3, because of Cédric's answer and the criptic "TODAY my answer is no".
His reaction to the article is another confirmation of this (at least, to me).
