https://s26.postimg.cc/5ayejgd2h/cover-dojo.png

While in Cologne for Gamescom last week we had the chance to speak with Cédric Biscay , President and CEO of Shibuya Productions and co-producer of Shenmue 3.

Topics include comparing Cédric's role in such a dream project with that of new publisher Deep Silver, the feedback received on Ys Net's recently released teaser video, HD remasters of Shenmue 1 & 2, the perils of working on a series that he loves, and plans for the fan event that previously showcased Shenmue 3 footage - his company's homegrown Monaco Anime Game International Conferences (MAGIC).

http://shenmusings.wordpress.com

Hi all! I've recently started my own Shenmue blog. I am intending this blog to be my space to share my thoughts, reflections, trivia and little known facts about the series - writing is the other passion I have in life, and I have wanted to somehow combine these passions for a long time now, hence Shenmusings. Some posts will get into my own personal history of the series, and of course my experiences with this very forum.

I hope you find the blog informative and enlightening to read - here are all of the posts I have made so far:

Discovering Shenmue (Part 1 of 2)
Discovering Shenmue (Part 2 of 2)
The Shenmue II Character Database
Antiquity Trees and Flower Girls: Symbolism in Shenmue (Part 1 of 2)
Antiquity Trees and Flower Girls: Symbolism in Shenmue (Part 2 of 2)
Men in Black Mix Up

LATEST POST:
The Phantom Teahouse Lady (And Other Devious Guidebook Lies)

Also, keep up to date via the Shenmusings Facebook and Twitter pages:

Re: Easiest way to get the Monkey Roll Drop and Heel Sweep?

I could never bring myself to get those move legitimately. It just requires way too much luck and thus time.
Only ever did it on old Demul with a quick save right before dropping the ball, moving it inch by inch until the drop would land.

So big congratulations on getting the damn thing! Make sure to check out that move video because one of the moves has an extension that is unexplained in game.

Re: Adam Koralik explains the re-releases (4:3, audio etc)

You know, it is interesting how Adam pointed out along with James how incredibly complicated Shenmue's programming was. It was held together by "rubber bands" in a metaphorical sense.

I remember Yu talking about how he liked UE4 for Shenmue 3, but was more used to really getting his hands in there to code what he wants. Sounds like he really tinkered big time in Shenmue!

The true reason it is a miracle it runs, even on modern consoles is it takes an entire development team to replicate and transfer the particular coding of essentially one person.

Abe Store: Beta vs Release comparison

I've written a blog post looking how the Abe Store in Sakuragaoka used to look, in the development days before Shenmue's release.

Did you know the Abe Store in Sakuragaoka was originally going to be called the "Saitō Store"? We look at this and other ways the store was adjusted before Shenmue's release.
