Re: Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed

^haha, that would be awesome, great concepts for Segata Sanshiro to be in the game.

I bought the game yesterday and have been playing it pretty much since I got back from work today.
This game is much much more fun than the original the only thing that disappoints and confuses me some of the exclusions and inclusions into the lineup, I mean obviously I couldn't wait to play a video game with Danica Patrick and they really did need to drop Alex Kidd, Opa Opa & the Bonanza Brothers..
It really does bother me, I mean Alex Kidd has a speedboat, a helicopter & a motorbike in his very first game FFS which covers the flying, water and road sections :| ....oh well...

Nonetheless it is still a great game and hopefully they at least bring Alex Kidd back via DLC.

Re: Official Gaming Music Topic

I love the music in Land of Illusion and considering that it is a SMS game makes it no mean feat. This particular tune just seems to come at the right moment of the game, it is an uplifting tune that kind of inspires you to defeat one of the more tougher stages in the game.

Re: Official Gaming Music Topic

I posted this game music a couple of times in the old topic.

It is just a really eerie tune that fits in very well with this stage of the game. What a stage it is too!
When you learn the controls of the game and are able to use them effectively this stage is just video gaming bliss.
Anyway enough rambling:

I LOVE the White Tower music in Lands of Lore.

I always feel in tough areas of games you need to have excellent music and this particular area of Lands of Lore is so frantic, the music just fits in perfectly with the frenetic pace that you will be operating at when you reach this area.

Re: What are you currently playing?

I am currently playing Amnesia - The Dark Descent on PC, It is quite an interesting game and I am really enjoying it so far. When you encounter an enemy in this game you have to hide, which can actually be quite intense and is a refreshing change to the survival horror games I am used to playing.

I am sure most of you have probably already heard of this game but for those of you who haven't here is a peak at the game play.

Re: Gimmie a good horror film

I absolutely adore the whole horror concept , but it's hard to name any movies that are actually scary.

^How true that comment is.

I actually find psychological thrillers to be more "scary" than horror movies. Movies in the same vein as "The Machinist" for example; They attempt to mess with your head, rather then try and scare you in an obvious way.

In terms of horror it really is difficult to pick out movies that are genuinely scary.
I would suggest a couple of movies that I really enjoy, "The Cube" & "Event Horizon". In all honesty, I love both these movies and I can watch them over & over.

Re: Nostalgia City!

I am going to start mentioning nostalgic games for the first console my family ever owned which is:

http://segaretro.org/images/thumb/d/d7/Master_System_logo.svg/320px-Master_System_logo.svg.png
Here in Australia nearly everyone had a SMS at the time. I never knew anyone with an NES and It wasn't until a couple of years after the N64 was released that I first saw a NES game in action.
I can remember my older brothers would go to school and trade/borrow different SMS games off friends so we had different games to play almost every week, it was amazing. For some reason I used to love just watching my brothers play more than actually playing the games myself, which is odd because I find it hard to watch people play video games now.

Anyway, I was going to ramble on about Alex Kidd in Miracle World, the original Wonderboy and Choplifter; which are all so nostalgic to me, but everyone has heard about those games a million times so I decided to talk about a few games that I grew up with that don't get mentioned too often:

http://www.smspower.org/maxim/uploads/Maps/AztecAdventure-Title.png
I would play this game so often it is ridiculous, it almost as if this game was made for nostalgic memories. There is no way anyone who played this game as a 5yr old would not get an overwhelming sense of nostalgia when playing years later.... well that's how I feel anyway. It is such a simple action game with a decent dose of strategy and who didn't love throwing money at the enemy soldiers to get you to join them. I believe this game should be played by every kid as one of their first video games because it is a perfect introduction to video gaming.

http://www.smstributes.co.uk/images/treasure/sonic2.jpg
This Sega Master System version was the first Sonic game I played. I still enjoy this more than the original Sonic the Hedgehog on the Mega Drive/Genesis, I just believe it had much more creativity in the level design and the levels are much more exciting. There was also more variety in the game play compared to your typical Sonic game, for instance; you jumped into mine carts, hang glided, jumped inside air bubbles to reach a higher platform and most importantly to me in this game was that the underwater stages didn't boring. Finding the Chaos Emeralds through the levels was always more fun than playing a bonus stage and I always thought that was a great idea and should've been implemented in the future Sonic games. One thing that lets this game down compared to other Sonic games is the boss battles which can be rather dull at times. Still this was a great introduction to Sonic and I believe it is still an awesome game.

http://img2.game-oldies.com/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/titles/sega-master-system/land-of-illusion-starring-mickey-mouse-europe.png?itok=a52Cbwey
This game is awesome and just does not get the credit it deserves. I think this game is well ahead of Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion and Legend of Illusion as the best in the series. I was fortunate enough to play this game when I was a kid and I just love every part of it. It had the amazing game play of Castle of illusion and just expanded upon it and brought in lots more exploration and secrets to the table. The Illusion series is one of my favourite video games series ever, each game is just amazing but this one seems to have been the forgotten one...well maybe apart from Legend of illusion...

...I will leave this as to be continued for now as there are plenty more games I would like to mention and not just for the SMS either.

Re: What TV series are you watching?

Boy Meets World was a well written and entertaining show, I really enjoyed watching it when I was younger. One thing I remember that the show captured brilliantly was the transition from primary to secondary school.

Anyway, I haven't seen Girl Meets World but I had a feeling that it was going to be terrible. I completely agree with you guys, kids growing up these days are just so unlucky, the way all the shows gear toward kids are so dumbed down like as if the slightest bit of mature or controversial theme in a children's show is sacrilegious.

Then again, I guess they could always just watch the good ol' shows online so I guess they aren't so unlucky...

Re: Great Anime Music

I haven't seen any of Trigun for a long long time but that music instantly brings me back, so awesome. I remember there used to be a pretty cool line-up on Cartoon Network back in the day which included Trigun & Orphen, I used to think both shows were so cool...

Anyway, back on topic:

The OST in Hajime No Ippo was a big reason why it is so amazing. It really had perfect music for each and every ocassion, I would suggest listening to any track from the original series. I had such a difficult time choosing one for this post the OST really is that perfect.

To be honest this whole topic is ridiculous there are far more important issues in life than this.
How can you justify posting on a video game forum with that kind of mentality? Nothing here is important, the few discussions here on important subjects aren't by experts either so basically pointless. What's ridiculous is telling people they shouldn't spend their time discussing certain subjects because there are others that are deemed more important.

Well, I meant her issue sspecifically the fact that she has generated such a following and people are paying money to hear more is just absurd, there are far more important issues in life and especially to donate money to than this.

Re: Great Videogame Boxart

^That is some fantastically awesome artwork.

Guess guys like these (like yourself and Thief both posted) don't draw "kawaiiiii desu uguu uguu" [under age girls] enough for most Japanese game companies nowadays.
Good art sure is a hard sell now in that country, dunno what the fuck happened over there.

It's quite funny how back in the late 80's & 90's game companies would feel the need to westernize the box-art when the original Japanese artwork would be amazing.
Nowadays there are times where I feel companies should do so because of the overly cutesy artwork, yet ironically, quite often with Japanese developed games, they don't change the artwork to westernize it anymore.

^^My experience with Double Dragon has always been a little limited; always liked them, but never owned any. But yeah, I always thought that boxart was fantastic. It's just so... exemplary of what I think of when early beat-em-ups come to mind.

The original Double Dragon was the first beat-em-up I had ever played, there are so many great memories playing multi-player with my brothers on the arcade and eventually on the Master System.

Back on topic ,I just saw this on eBay today:

http://i.imgur.com/rURPd6s.jpg

A rare time from back in the day when a western developed game has awesome box-art; too bad the game itself was just an average light gun game.

^i gotta admit that song made me laugh...

10000 bullets has a pretty cool jazzy soundtrack. The whole ost stays consistent and never tries anything outlandish, or drastically different from one track to the next. It also somehow manages to suit the game which is weird since I would associate a game like 10000 bullets with fast techno, hard rock or something to that effect.

Before rambling on too long here is a track from one of the coolest jazz ost's I've heard in a game 8) :
