Re: Random Thoughts! v2.0

We don't have to wait several months on a list to have surgery or see a specialist. (unless you need a transplant they don't have for you yet)

Canada has the same healthcare you guys do, and they come here for surgery a lot. A lot of Americans go to Canada for prescriptions but they come here for surgery.

This is partly bullshit though. The NHS is often actually very fast. If you have cancer (as my father did), you will get a consultation with a specialist within 2 weeks, and a surgery very soon after if it's needed (again, as my father did). Don't believe all the anti propaganda.

And anyway, if you have the money then you can go private. But when all healthcare is private, what the F**k are you going to do when your out of luck and you have no money to cover the cost's? Die? F**k that.

Might as well become a communism

 hilarious.

Re: Random Thoughts! v2.0

I don't get it when people say the British healthcare system is bad.

It's fucking brilliant, walk in world class healthcare with no bill at the end. They saved my small nephews life plus I have got my moneys worth. It's funny how people think it's commy, it really isn't like that.

Plus we can have private healthcare he if we want it.

Re: The alcohol thread

Where I work, people frequently talk about getting wanting to get as absolutely drunk as possible, I feel sad for those people, since that's their very existence and that's literally all they talk about. I mean, I can understand wanting to go out for a drink to relax or just getting themselves drunk at a party of some kind, it happens, but to actively seek out a lifestyle that involves nothing but getting drunk? Pathetic existence. Like southcarmain and a couple of others on here, I don't drink, but when I do, it's normally a cider I'll go for. It tastes good and is still to this day, the only alcoholic drink I can safely say that about. When I was in college, I used to go out and get drunk all of the time, but realised it was a bit of a useless exercise that resulted in nothing but pain the next day and that was not enjoyable. And having seen the effects alcohol has had on people, it was enough to put me off. So yeah, I don't go out of my way to drink myself to oblivion like others where I am, do.

I'm in the middle of this. Everyone I work with always go to the same fucking dive, every weekend, without fail. This is why they think I'm unsociable. The reason why I don't go there is because it's a cheap dive. I would much rather pay the extra on each drink to be in a much more pleasant atmosphere than be surrounded by similar reprobates that want to get as pissed as possible quicker than anyone else. Don't get me wrong, I like, nay love getting pissed, but I think the main thing about it is the journey there. I like to remember all the conversations I have with people and all the anecdotes that I have exchanged. I'm lucky in that the friends I have outside of work are exactly the same as me, and that is why we can drink through to the next to day on the majority of times because a: I always find them interesting (and vice versa) and b: they're fackin' heavyweights (but without being complete cunts).

why do pessimists always try so hard to bring everyone down to their level?

anyway I recently went and dug out my psp and remembered why I had stopped playing it in the first place, the screen has these blue lines that do from top to bottom, it used to go away by applying pressure but that doesn't work anymore unfortunately, anyone got any idea how to fix it?

Re: Gaming thoughts of the day

I think the past few years I have been at my gamer pinnacle. I have been getting so into my games for a while now, where i used to kind of rush through them. I am actually a completion-ist now. And the game that started it all? Persona 3 FES, even though I didnt actually beat it. That game had so many choices and things you could set up outside of your party members for battle purposes and people to see and raise your social link with, and I was so intruiged to explore what the game had to offer. Then about a year later Another game came along that I got sucked into again and that was Fable Lost Chapters on xbox, I just had to do everything there was in that game, even got the frying pan with the 6 slots. And ever since then its like every game I have just played the crap out of. I mean I spent 100 hours between yakuza 1 and 2 for christs sake another honorable mention from last year that threw me back into gaming was Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, I was clutching my PSP for that game. Maybe I am just side quest happy, maybe I am just more devoted to games now that I am older, I am not sure but my love for gaming has re-sparked, despite the fact that I dont really care much for this gen. I mean I have been wanting to build a gaming PC for months and months and I have decided that it will probably be what i get myself for christmas. Long Live Gaming!

Re: Old School Dojo-ers

Strange memories on this nervous night at the Dojo. Ten years later? Eleven? It seems like a lifetime, or at least a Main Era—the kind of peak that never comes again. The dojo in the early 2000s was a very special time and place to be a part of. Maybe it meant something. Maybe not, in the long run… but no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world. Whatever it meant.…

History is hard to know, because of all the hired bullshit, but even without being sure of "history" it seems entirely reasonable to think that every now and then the energy of a whole generation comes to a head in a long fine flash, for reasons that nobody really understands at the time—and which never explain, in retrospect, what actually happened.

My central memory of that time seems to hang on one or five or maybe forty nights—or very early mornings—when I left the dojo half-crazy and, instead of going home, surfing at Ryos place or some random shenmue websites, not quite sure which turn-off to take when I got to the other end (always stalling at the admins, too twisted to find neutral while I fumbled for some reasonable post)... but being absolutely certain that no matter which way I went I would come to a place where people were just as high and wild as I was: No doubt at all about that…

There was madness in any direction, at any hour. If not across the Shenmue 3 forum, then up the SEGA forum or down General.… You could strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning.…

And that, I think, was the handle—that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting—on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave.…

So now, less than ten years later, you can go up on a steep hill in the dojo and look back, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark—that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.

Re: Your favorite SEGA Console

Genesis/Megadrive easily.
Never had a Saturn, but I've looked through its library of games many times, and there are still only a scant few gems that really catch my attention. And the Dreamcast is great, and has a few of the greatest exclusives ever, but I think the system gets built-up a little too much by "cult" gamers these days as some kind of golden shining moment in gaming history, going on about some kind of nonexistent "cohesion" between the various Sega-made games in its library and whatnot. But at the end of the day, I just see it as another gaming console with only a small few games that truly appeal to me. Granted, some of those games are among the greatest ever made, but the amount of them is far too small for me to give much credit to the DC itself.

The Genesis is pure gold, though. The original Sonic games are near perfection, and the system is home to a huge host of brilliantly fun titles.
Rocket Knight Adventures, Ranger X, Shining Force, Wings of Wor, Comix Zone, Gunstar Heroes, Flashback, Shinobi III, Bonanza Brothers, Target Earth, Landstalker, Phantasy Star series, Alisia Dragoon, Beyond Oasis, Rolling Thunder series, Uncharted Waters and New Horizons... the list goes on and on.
So many games with so few negative points to them.
More than almost any other era of gaming, the 16-bit era was all about good, simple fun . And the Genesis/MD was absolutely exemplary of that.

Also been going through PMs that critique the DEUX script. You guys know who you are, your input about the whole story has been nothing short of invaluable. I did a sweep and now i'm at the final leg of this four year monster. At page 82, can't wait to change that ending!

Re: Random Thoughts! v2.0

Pete, don't you think thats a bit harsh? We all have our issues and god knows Adam has his. We're all friends and while we may piss each other off I don't think we should let things come to this. He didn't need to create another account, he broke the rules and if he keeps breaking them then its totally reasonable that you ban him but try not to make it personal by saying the kind of stuff you have. Whatever issues he has, and whatever is causing him to act the way he does he'll have to deal with it. The best thing to do is just respond to his actions without making it too much of a spectacle.

So its ok to just have this happen over and over and over again? This is a regular occurance, and its tiring. Its not harsh at all, he made an alternate account to come back and do the same things he was banned for. Not too long ago, there was a blanket ban on new members signing up because he was banned and making alternate accounts. You have been on message boards long enough not to do that and so has he, and its not just attacks on other people now its threats of self harm . Are you serious?

I am not gonna go down the road of "oohh you need to get help", or "get off the internet" because its been done before and its not happening, nor will it work. He created his own forums to get away from here and in less than a month, look what happens again. Dont you think its slightly odd that his "outbursts" are only here and not at his forums or even Hazuki Dojo? I was finished with him ages ago. I am not a friend of his. I disagree with a lot of principles he lives his life by, with number one, living a life on the internet. I am done talking about him because thats what he wants. Thats what he needs. His blue font to make him stand out.

I dont need that. Other members, old and new dont need that. Any online community doesnt need that.

Re: Is this a good PC?

It's not so much as em bein fitted like that, more like the cables are all bunched up in the way. It's almost as if they purposely make it a pain in the arse for you. Don't worry though, it's easily sorted out. Just don't be afraid to crack open your computer. People treat em like they're proper delicate n shit, but they ain't.

Most of it's pretty straight-forward, and you learn through findin the right connections (the process is practically like those shape-fittin toys for babies n toddlers) It'll take some intentional effort to break summat, so the most damage you'll possibly do is not plug something back in right. Even then, you just open it back up n correct the mistake.

Don't be afraid of cables either, they ain't gonna snap or owt. You gotta remember that all this shit is designed to withstand this kinda shit. Just trust me, open up your computer, take a few pictures, and tell me where you reckon the card's gonna go and if there's owt in the way. If you wanna upgrade this thing now n in the future, you're gonna have to learn how.
