Honestly, I think the main selling point for shenmue should be its immersion.

we all chip in to build an artificial island in international waters. This should lead to nearby countries trying to claim said island as a way to expand their maritime boundaries. At this point it should have garnered the attention of every international news outlet to which we reveal that we made the island in the form of Ryo's head to promote shenmue.

It doesn't bother me personally. I see the Kiwami series as light reboots made as sequels to 0 rather than remakes of the first 2 games, so i picture Majima as a main character in that context.

I always thought it was some sort of Mercedes since I saw a documentary about Japanese mobsters and the bosses all favoured high class Mercedes models. I can't find any exact replica but a few come pretty close in design.

That's actually a really interesting perspective. I mean, I'll probably still feel the way I do about it just because I am already so familiar with the series (and these two particular games), but that's still a really respectable way of looking at it.
It probably helps that I never played through the first Yakuza game and only through Yakuza 2 once nearly a decade ago.

on an unrelated not I was watching Yakuza 5 videos and all I could think of was that I was happy no one surprised me playing through Haruka's section. I can't imagine trying to get someone to believe I'm playing a manly game about the Japanese mafia after seeing the gameplay in the following video.

I did every single thing you could do with Haruka since I wanted to platinum the game (which I gave up on when I realised you had to do absolutely everything the game had to offer including every heat move, use every weapon and other menial bullshit which would probably add 50 hours of pure grind) and I can barely remember any of it so you're probably not missing out on much. Shinada's section is pretty fun too so it's worth just skipping Haruka and her sunday sitcom tier drama.

I think cutting content from the game was pointless and a bit stupid but I'll agree that it didn't seem to change the experience for me. I never could be bothered with the hostess clubs either, except for Majima's sidestory in 0. Apparently they cut some substories too but the game has so many that it really didn't make the game feel any less complete. My main issue with Yakuza 3 was that the story just felt low quality to me. That and I played it after 4 so it really felt dated in comparison.

Kiwami 2 is looking great in 6's engine. definitely looking forward to playing through this.

Just for fun I want to know how well you guys think shenmue 3 will be received. The poll options are based on Metacritic but if you want to give your opinion on particuliar sites feel free to write them as a comment.

The forum mainstays(Spags, Peter, etc.) have gone dark, discussion is at a minimum, where once it was bustling..I can only extrapolate that, though external reasons are always a factor, this worry isn't plaguing just me these days.

While it's not my place to speak on their behalf, the impression I get from a world beyond the Dojo walls is that both of those named remain optimistic about the completed game.
I'm pretty sure peter would stab someone for saying shenmue 3 will suck.

i allready regeret subscribing to this forum. yesterday i preordered shenmue 3 trough paypal. the digital version.
I am not a ks funder. a latecomer to be exact. and im worried that also the digitial key is sent trough real mail(not email) this is ofcourse a worrysome thing cause the people that didnt fund can basically buy the game or key and redeem it instantly.

I really doubt gaming websites are taking "bribes". Although there is no denying that there is some pressure on them through the risk of companies withdrawing their advertising, causing loss of revenue, or refusing to send them review copies in advance, putting them at a disadvantage. None of this is really relevant when it will come to reviewing shenmue 3 though but Some reviewers might be biased due to it being a kickstarter game surrounded by controversy.

One thing i am happy about though is that they seemed to have given his jacket its used look again. It bothered me a bit how in previous screens ryo looked like he had just came out of zara.

He's supposed to join ryo once his leg gets better so I think we have a good chance of seeing him again. Master chen and Guizhand seem like they're too important characters to only be relevant in one game. At least that's the impression I have.
