Last game I beat? Uncharted, 8/10.

It's a first-person shooter, what can you do?

^^What else can it be?
And I thought he meant Valkyria Chronicles...
Either way, VC or Killzone, the point is still valid. That's what games are now. Gameplay, cutscene, gameplay, cutscene. Nothing wrong with it.

I was talking about Valkyria Chronicles. I'm loving the game at the moment but I was looking forward to an exploration side of the game, the graphics and presentation are just so well done it's dissapointing not being able to explore.

Exploration? Are you sure you know what genre is was before you bought it? Turn-based RPG.

Umm, I think I have to side with Nick. Turn based or not, it's really a joy to explore a lush world to back up a good story and that's what you usually expect to get with any RPG. I don't really mind something like Baten Kaitos where there is no world map, but I definitely don't want to just fight and watch scenes. It's ironic for me to say that when my favorite game is Fire Emblem, but the thing is only certain games can get away with it. In Fire Emblem, the battles are so immersive, it feel like exploring (like going into towns and houses during battle). Plus the cutscenes are so vivid and descriptive plus give you choices.

Maybe I need to try it, but I saw a trailer and didn't get the hype behind Valkyria Chronicles.

^^Aw, come on, as much of a film fanatic as you are, you should know better than anyone that you can't judge something based on a trailer.

^^
Yeah, if you absolutely can't stand JRPGs, you might have a problem with it. Maybe. I mean, the gameplay is completely different from, say, a Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. It's more of a tactical action game. The actual "RPG" elements just come in the form of leveling up, really.
But if it's the general anime-style settings and characters that you don't like then, yeah, you might not like it so much.

America's Army. It's free and counter-strike ish, so can't complain.

Since it's legs are in the Multiplayer mode, I only say i've 'beaten' the single player 'training'. Perhaps you have to listen to some horseshit about American Army values, but the actual matter-of-fact training stuff is very interesting. Unfortunatly not all these things are in the multiplayer, as of yet.

It's just getting a new release (3.0) built off the Unreal Engine 3 at some point soon, i'll sure be checking it out.

I'd give the game a 9/10. It's free, it's interesting, and it's like counter strike.

^^Played a demo on PS1 and loved it. Could never find the actual game, though. Might have to look for a used copy now. Always wanted to play it through.
