Management features yes, but SimCity has no real tension or stakes as it basically has no game over, only setbacks as challenge. Meanwhile Factorio as example has always an endgame goal in mind, which is for you to build a rocket to get you out of the prison planet you are current in, while hordes of alien beasts try to devour you along with everything you've built hitherto. That was the "exciting " part I was talking about, elements that go way beyond just simulating mundane real life activities.
