Finally got around to downloading Steam a few weeks back. My brother's been hounding me about it for a while. Should have done this much earlier; my PC isn't quite as shitty for gaming as I'd thought, and it makes playing games with friends a breeze.
Picked up Payday 2 after watching my brother play it a bit. Absolutely loving it. I've never been very keen on deathmatch-style multiplayer stuff but co-op is always right up my alley, and this game is all about that. Addictive as hell, pulling off heists and trying to upgrade gear, abilities, and masks. It actually got me back in touch with my older brother too (haven't actually talked to him much in a while), and lets me interact with my best friend from highschool a lot more than I was before. It's hard keeping in touch with people that are far away, but it's much easier when you've all got a co-op game to obsess over.

Oh, and on the subject of Steam, the first game I downloaded on it was this retardedly quirky RPG called Lisa. I only really bought it because Steam doesn't let you friend people unless you've bought five dollars worth of games. Lisa was on sale, had great reviews, and was pretty much exactly how much I needed to spend, so I bought it on a whim.
Turned out to be an amazing purchase.
I know independently-made 2D RPGs aren't usually the most attractive packages in the world. Usually they're just a bunch of nostalgia-pandering shite ("you've played stuff like this before! Here's a bunch of stuff like that, but not as good!"), but Lisa is genuinely creative, incredibly mature, and ridiculously disturbing. Amazing writing, fantastic characters, excellent music, and some of the most messed up morality choices I've ever seen in a game. I absolutely loved it.
Plus it's fucking hilarious, despite the dark-as-hell subject matter.

About an hour in to freedom wars. Liking it so far however I find it difficult to play as the vita isn't really designed for hands as big as mine, also the absence of a jump button took me a little time to get used to. Other than that I'm liking it quite a lot, it has a very interesting setting and I like how you have to work to unlock everything in it, constant rewards are usually what get me hooked in to a game and this game literally makes you work for it all.

I would really like to try it on the vita tv someday though, I can imagine it being much better on a big screen with a proper controller.

Why the hate for Steam? I love the platform, the amount of deals and offers they have is really exceptional. I have a library of 347 games currently. I'm a big console gamer too but I have to admit I spend a large majority of my time on my PC.

Just joking around. I'm not really a fan of PC gaming myself as I like just putting a disc in a not having to fiddle with stuff like drivers and shadow settings but Steam is something impressive.
