This release is only in Japan.

It's back to the basics! 3 vs. 3 fighting with no strikers! This is the second Dream Match KoF game since KoF '98.

Note that this Dreamcast version will also include King and Shingo Yabuki, who were not on the original roster of the arcade release!

Why not? There were 2D fighter releases (from Capcom) in Japan after the Saturn was declared out of the game. (Don't you love that play on words?)

I'm crossing my fingers for SVC Chaos release on Dreamcast as well. It could happen. I hope it happens. Otherwise, I'll have no way to play SVC Chaos at home. The Neo-Geo rom will probably get dumped and leaked pretty quickly, but I don't want to use an emulator for this game.

(Besides, who would enjoy playing fighting games with a keyboard? Not me.)

Good news, although I wonder why Playmore keeps releasing games for the dead DC.

Keep in mind that no matter how well the conversion comes out, it's still a port. All ports have some minute differences that turn off some players, such as combo timing issues, missing frames, and so on.

Its obviously not dead if theres still games being released, theres plenty of people here who still play DC frantically, like my saturn, genesis, even master system, it will NEVER die...

Simple. Because it's not as dead as you'd like to believe. People continue to buy the games Playmore releases for Dreamcast, so Playmore keeps releasing them. Sounds like a good way to do business to me.

The game is out now. I read a few impressions on GameFAQs.com and they seem to be good impressions so far.

Okay, I passed by an import store today and I couldn't resist buying it. It cost me $80 CAD but I'm satisfied that I bought this. By buying this, maybe there will be chance for an SVC Chaos port to Dreamcast.

Impressions:

 No sign of King or Shingo yet.

 I can't find Kusanagi either. His arcade code doesn't work.

 Rugal is cheap as hell. That's to be expected since he's the boss. He isn't selectable from the start, either.

I'm assuming all of the added/hidden characters have to be unlocked. I don't have a Neo-Geo AES, so I can't make comparisons. But from what I remember from the arcade version, this Dreamcast port is good as far as I can tell.

Is there any difference between the original KOF02 and the re-released KOF02 from Playmore?

KOF 2k2 was originally made by Playmore/Eolith, the people who took over SNK and the KoF series, respectively. The last KOF game by SNK themselves was 2000.
The Dreamcast version is just a port.

I still have to unlock Shingo.
