Ryo Hazuki vs. Kazuma Kiryu

lol.... Ryo hasn't gotten a fair shake since he's only in 2 games. By the end of Shenmue IV people will be changing their minds.

Kazuma would wipe the floor with the likes of Chai, Dou Niu or Baihu without even breaking a sweat. But I think unlike Kazuma, Ryo really has what it takes to become a martial artist. To Kazuma, fighting is a tool to stay alive in the streets, to Ryo fighting and martial arts has been his main interest for most of his life.

Technically, Ryo has a much better foundation than Kazuma. So while I do think Kazuma would beat Shenmue 2 Ryo quite clearly, if you give Ryo some more time to gather experience and work on his punch impact, Kazuma will be no match for him.

A fair comparison would be Shenmue II Ryo vs Yakuza 0 Kiryu. They would be about even in skill.

Eh why not. Forum is a bit slow.This isn't about what game you like better because look where it's posted. This is about who would win in a hand to hand fight. No weapons. Both men are known for being insanely strong. Both great at fighting. Ryo however has lost a few but to be fair he got them back and beat some tough opponents including taking on 70 men.The knowledge I have of Yakuza after 0 is limited but from what I gather Kiryu has never lost a fight and fought many men many times at once. Ryo uses martial arts as we know. Kiryu does not. Kiryu however is very brutal. Ryo is more about technique.

Kiryu would wipe the floor with Ryo. Maybe by the end of the shenmue series Ryo will stand a chance but as things stand there's just no contest.

Yeah I think Kiryu as well. Ryo got his ass handed to him by a knockoff gollum. While Ryo is strong I think the point is that he just isn't a total BA yet and he isn't ready yet. Hell his dad died early so also possible his training was not complete. Ryo must overcome this by getting stronger gradually. Kiryu while gameplay you do learn new moves and such in the game I think that is more a gameplay thing than any character progression as you do that on your own time. Kiryu his challenges is more about protecting others and a series of other events. Physically he already has the tools and so that's never an issue. Kiryu as mentioned never lost a fight and he has taken on some shit that would have Ryo lying in a hospital bed. Kiryu would seriously wipe the floor with him. I know both are strong but Kiryu is nearly inhuman.

I know it's technically possible but story wise Ryo loses. I once beat a boss in a RPG your not supposed to win and the cut scene still triggered of them losing.

yeah being an unbeatable practically superhuman dragon is pretty much Kiryu's thing.

Kiryu got hit with a steel pipe in the throat by a man on a motorcycle and got up like it was nothing. Ryo on the other hand kicked a dude off a motorcycle mid air.

Irrelevant to the topic but I agree. Bad platformer. Shadow kinda sucks also. Didn't care if the girl died and the game controls awful. Not to mention a huge pointless overworld. I love games like Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom,rain,Brothers a Tale of Two Sons and Lost in Shadow. I just never felt the team Ico games were all that well designed. If the remake of Sotc fixes the issues then I would gladly play it.
