"The Taiwanese PlayStation Store has leaked the announcement of Yakuza: Kiwami 2 for PlayStation 4 ahead of Sega’s Yakuza Studio New Titles Presentation on August 26.

According to the listing, the game, which is a remake of Yakuza 2, is built in the latest iteration of the Dragon Engine, which is used in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, and will launch in Taiwan on December 7.

Further details are expected to be announced on August 26."

Hahahahaha. BRING IT ON!!!! \:D/

Edit:

Nagoshi says there will be surprises at tomorrow's Yakuza Studio presentation, despite Kiwami 2 being leaked.

Wooo!

Yakuza 2 ties with Yakuza 0 for being my favorite in the series. I played through a little of Yakuza 6, but haven't really touched it since I bought it. Wasn't the biggest fan of the new fighting engine. BUT if this remake is using the latest version of the Dragon Engine, one that was mentioned to be a little unfinished with Yakuza 6, then Sega can take my money.

NOW.

That would be amazing if this news is true.

Hopefully the other "surprise" announcement is a Binary Domain sequel.

Hmm... This might be the one that makes me jump back into the series. Yakuza 2 was definitely my favourite, but it certainly hasn't aged well.

And what's this?! Unless I'm being deceived by my Chinese, it says there that we are now also going to "control Majima Goro's story" (that's the literal translation)!

Wow! I wonder how that will work.

Alright, big day for Yakuza (related) announcements. The best parts of the live stream have now been posted on the official Yakuza YouTube page.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 we already know about:

But also, Yakuza Online, something for smartphones and PC apparently:

The suprise though is a Fist of the North Star game running on the Yakuza 6 engine!

Yakuza Online announced

Didn't Sega learn anything from their foray into Shenmue Online? Seems like history repeating itself again.

Jesus Christ, that Fist of the North Star looks amazing. I loved KoeiTecmo's versions, and I'll miss some of the redesigns from that, but this one looks like it has generally higher production values. They seem to have retained the general double-bass-pedal heavy metal style of Koei's soundtracks for those games, which is awesome. Sounds like they may have gotten Kazuma's voice actor for Kenshiro too. Just hoping it comes west.
Also Yakuza looks good, yadda yadda... but it's not really a surprise in the least. Still, Y2 remains my favorite after all these years, so it'll be a blast either way.
But damn... Fist of the North Star. Take my damn money.

Thx for summing all of that up Kintor. Saves me the trouble of having to do it.

Kiwami 2 I was always gonna get.

Fist of the North Star I'm interested in. I like how it looks, but well need to know more about the game before I can say I'm really interested or not. But as I said, I do really like how it looks.

Yakuza online...I'm kinda with Fittersau on this one...but I'll reserve judgment till there's more details known about that one.

YakuzaFan.com have the translated trailers from the conference on their website.

The Yakuza 6 After Hours edition is also available for preorder from Zavvi in the UK. Just put one in myself.

Survey about Ryu Ga Gotoku's Team's upcoming projects asking international audiences how interested they are in each (Kiwami 2, Fist of the North Star and Yakuza Online), show your interest here (it's the quickest survey ever, seriously, took 2 seconds for me to fill it in).

Nice little note afterwards, that sounds a bit positive to me.
Everybody fill it in!

Kiwami is the first Yakuza game I'm skipping. I got burned out on 5 and almost did with 0 so playing a remake would do it for sure, especially when we have Yakuza 6 in around 6 months.

I'm glad that they've decided to move on with a new character, with Shin Ryu ga Gotoku, but knowing how Shenmue Gai went and the typical games of this genre, it may be the first RGG title that I won't be able to get my hands on :(. Let's hope.

Kiwami 2 has me a bit excited, if only because they did a great job on Kiwami (you all know how I feel about 2) and while I WILL be pre-ordering it in Japanese, I am dreading to have to deal with Kaoru and the absurdity that is the last 3 chapters... but more RGG is never a bad thing :).

Hokuto no Gotoku is what I'm looking forward to most though... and I know little to nothing about that franchise, apart from the fact that almost every game ever done, sucks hard (apparently)... I may need to get into the anime at first, as it may help out with the game a bit more.

Great excitement, I can't wait for my PS4 to come in this/next week, so I can FINALLY start 6, then replay 0 right after.

As for the previous page, I hope they do a Binary Domain 2 as well, but seeing how the loose ends were tied up, I don't think that game will EVER get a sequel... I wouldn't mind a prequel though, of sorts.
