Hotsuma - Shinobi (PS2)

Image

Even though I'd rather have played as Joe Musashi from the previous games, the design for Hotsuma in the PS2 Shinobi was still excellent. At the very least, I think he looks even more badass than Ryu from Ninja Gaiden.

Hibana - Nightshade

Image

I like that Hibana essentially brought back the classic white and red style that Joe Musashi used, mixed with the "futuristic ninja" thing Hotsuma had going on.
Plus, she's hot.

@OL nice. I esp loved his scarf in the game.
Also if there was any good time to bring Shinobi back the time is now.
============================================

This should be my last of vanillaware for now.

Momohime.
Like any vanillaware game they always make the heroes small but still very stylish and still says don't mess with them, yet innocent in a way.

Yukinojo
Ok this I admit is pretty standard cliche Samurai look but when used in that style and colouring technique they do I just think it makes it look awesome.
So yeah for now done with this type of art. Something different will be next.

^^It's strange, sometimes I'll see a samurai or something from a game and think they look totally awesome and badass... but then I'll realize that the design itself is really just a standard samurai outfit, nothing particularly special about it.
It usually happens with traditionally-styled Japanese stuff. Case in point:

Futaba - Tenchu: Fatal Shadows

Image

Like I said, it's not that inventive a design or anything (it's just a form-fitting kimono and cross-strapped sandals), I just think the application of it looks really good.

My fave character in any FF game I played thus far.
People complain or debate about other characters in the series but everyone loves Vivi.

Max Payne

Although the character is made to look like someone the graphic novel are just beautiful and my favrouite part of both games. I'd love to see one of them HD collections for this series as they are so much improved in the second game.

keeping with Riku and the comic look.
I love Hotel dusk esp Kyle and Iris. It looks even better in motion. Cing did a masterful job with the game overall but the look is of course what stood out the most on a platform that is very limited. TBH even if this was on hardware with better abilities I would not want them to change a damn thing.

I'm sorry, but in reference to the Ryu vs. Shinobi comment earlier, Ryu would break Shinobi in half!

Ok frustrated comic book nerd but he never said anything about who would win in a fight. Plus that would be just a pointless dumb nerd debate you would see on a shit site like Gamefaqs with a pointless poll.

OL was just giving his opinion on LOOKS. "looks even more badass than Ryu "
If you like Ryu's looks more then fine. Everyone is entitled.

Quina would eat them both.

Seriously I know Japan can be crazy but WTF square? This is where I loved FF where they just went batshit insane with character design. While yes Kuja had the womanly look even though male but most everything else was not afraid to do what the hell ever not just set on everyone in black or spiky hair teens.
Nothing about this makes sense, eats everything has no gender.

There was a time I liked CG and went crazy over cyber suit stuff.
Though changed my tastes since,This from Xenosaga II I still make an exception on and it's easy to see what reasons why. Stays within my current tastes of my electronics like PC and consoles with the clean white simple sleek tech look.
Also having a female figure didn't hurt either.

Edit: haha just as i am about to press submit the deb lyons Xenosaga II image theme starts playing on WMP,same one from the XII trailer from way back.

Raikoh - Otogi 2

Image

As cool as he looked in the first game, I think Raikoh looks even better in the second. The main difference is really just that his armor is now all white, rather than the dark gold it was in the first game. But this change makes all the difference, giving him a more ghostly, ethereal look in the sequel.

The Crimson King - Otogi

Image

And even cooler, of course, is the Crimson King from the first Otogi. He sort of plays the role of "Virgil" to Raikoh's "Dante" (and that's a reference to Devil May Cry, of course, not the Divine Comedy).
I've just always loved his long red lion's mane (which looks excellent in-game), and his half-masked skull face. Just an excellent design, and a perfect nemesis for Raikoh.
