About bloody time! Trailer coming at E3 first shot has been released most likely from a CGI cutscene. Big fan of the series and hopefully this will be a lot like Silent Assassin which is the best in the series IMO. Just hope some of the recent rumors are not true like you wont just be playing as 47 this time.
Oddly this all started with the doughnuts ad in a catalogue at the Sundance Film Festival

And before that IO teased it with all this.

Actually I forgot to reply before but yea I'm keeping an eye on this and the inevitable steam sale where I buy all the hitman games for 5$

Oh, I'm looking forward to it. Definitely.
Love all of the first 4 Hitman games. Been waiting for IO to make another. I expect nothing but good things. No reason to expect anything else.

@Ryudo
The series is considered stealth (which I think you aren't much a fan of...), though it's a little different from something like Splinter Cell or Tenchu. It's usually sort of "stealth in plain sight", like Assassin's Creed, though there are plenty of moments of sneaking around. Gameplay generally involves killing guards, stealing their clothes, making your way into restricted areas, and taking out a target in some kind of creative fashion (poisoning drinks, sabotaging things to fall on them, etc). There are occasional instances where you're required to snipe the target from afar, or go guns-blazing on a group of enemies. It's pretty varied as stealth games go.
Not sure about Gamecube, but Hitmans 2, 3, and 4 are all on the Xbox.
2 would be as good a place as any to start (most people started there, I think). Watch some youtube videos, see what you think of them. 3 and 4 are a bit more stylish, however, so it's up to you.

Hitman is good. I'm not crazy about it though so if this comes I won't notice.

Silent Assassin is was one of the best games last gen for me.

Story and pretty much all levels were top notch.

I belive Hitman 2 was on gamecube but heavily cut?

Not coming out till next year

“For the first time we are taking Agent 47 on a personal journey which allows us to explore other parts of the HITMAN® fantasy,” said Tore Blystad, game director, IO Interactive. “This is both a familiar and yet significantly different experience to any of the other Hitman games, something our silent assassins will relish as well as those who are new to the Hitman world.”

Showcasing IO Interactive’s new proprietary Glacier 2TM technology, the game has been built from the ground up, boasting a cinematic story, distinctive art direction and highly original game design, HITMAN ABSOLUTION combines much loved classic gameplay with completely new gameplay features for the Hitman franchise.

Scheduled for release in 2012, HITMAN ABSOLUTION will be showcased by invitation only at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, California from June 7-9.

HITMAN ABSOLUTION will be out for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Windows PC

i love silent assassin and contracts but hated codename 47 (the original) on PC. only played that one once. but i feel that blood money is the best Hitman game. i hope Absolution is to blood money as contracts was to silent assassin. i know MANY disagree but yeah........so much nostalgia for me with this series. grew up on it.

I played the demo for the 360 games and thought it was very good.

Is there an ongoing story in the series or is it ok to pick up wherever you like?
