^I'd love it but I really can't see a game where you play as a templar the whole game actually happening. As much as I'd love to see more of Haytham I think if anything it's going to be more of Connor or a new guy in another time period.

Don't see how such setting would be "boring".

Makes no sense. I was really looking forward to them doing Japan. It's a perfect setting for history, gameplay, music, combat, exploration. collect scrolls, throw shuriken's, defend and assasinate shoguns, form a brotherhood of ninja's... its just all too perfect. :-|

With all my complaints about Connor's voice actor, I thought I'd look around for actors who I think would have done a better job. Obviously he'd have to be Native (is that a less insulting term? More descriptive, rather than being an inaccurate branding...).
After a bunch of searching, I quite like this guy. Eric Schweig.

Might seem a little old (I want to say he's in his 40s...) but I saw videos of him from the early 90s too, and his voice was about the same, so he could reasonably pull off a 20-something I think. But besides that, he's just got a much deeper voice, likely much more capable of actually being commanding (which is kind of an important quality to the role) than the actor they eventually used for Connor.
And imagining it, I think even with the same exact script, his line delivery would come off as far less-annoying than the one they ended up going with. He wouldn't sound like a mopey kid reciting ideals, but rather a mature adult fighting for a cause. I might still have a problem with the character himself being less-fun than Ezio, but at least the voice would be better.

Too bad they can't re-record everything and patch it into the game.

My choice of Connor would be Adam Beach.

I thought about him too, but honestly he's kind of close to the voice they ended up using anyway. I actually like him as an actor, but I personally think he'd sound about the same as Connor already does when it comes to the angry, defiant, or commanding parts. Shouting orders on the Aquila, for example, would probably still have that tinge of sounding like his voice could crack at any time.

I wish there could just be a DX or Director's Cut version.

Right now the story makes 0 sense to me. I totally agree with Raton in his hatred of the colonists. Everything he says makes sense, and he handles them fairly well *ie giving Paul Revere a pissed off look when he puts his hand on him and pointing out that slavery and taxation aren't anywhere near being the same thing when talking to Sam Adams.*

but everytime he fight a British soldier he starts talking about how the Colonists are completely right and looking for freedom(even though the Templars organized the revolution as they were behind a lot of events including the Boston Massacre...why would they start the revolution if they didn't want it to start?

Why did Achillies tell Raton to help Sam Adams then give him shit because he picked a side in the war? Why do they keep saying "The point of learning about Ezio was to gain his skills" when Desmond doesn't actually use them and just dies at the end...so the idea of a modern assassin never gets realized?

Why is that Raton who is usually very aggressive with colonits and docile with the residents of davenport and his tribe go off the fucking deep end and start saying "Myaaaaaaaa you don't help me myweeeeeeeeeee"?

HOW THE FUCK DOES HE KNOW HAYTHAM IS HIS DAD? I've been talking to fucking everyone and I can't find a single NPC that says it and Zio says she cut off contact with him, who fucking told him? Did I miss soothing during the psychedelic animorph sequence?

Thats why I think a DX version would be great, because its a good story that just needs some tightening up.

Yeah, more than any other game in the series, it's pretty evident that there's supposed to be more here. They probably had more planned but had to cut back a lot to make the 2012 deadline.

Can he evolve as a character or is he kinda set as is and just have to ride it out with a bad character? Also how much longer can they take the series? I mean truly. Greed and sales aside

They might be able to improve him, if they wanted to use him again. But it would take a lot of work to make the transition smooth, from him being... the way he is, into someone more likable. It would take an awful lot.
I'd prefer if they just move on to a new character. Or re-visit someone from the past.

And the series can go as long as they have good ideas for it. Sales and commercialism and whatever else aside, it's a series primarily built around creating alternate world history. And with a setup like that, they could literally use any point in time using almost any culture they want.
And they seem to love going off the beaten path the most; the Middle East during the Crusades, Renaissance Italy, Ottoman-ruled Constantinople... even the American Revolution is pretty far out there for an action/adventure game these days. There are almost unlimited options for them in expanding the Assassin's Creed series.
In my eyes, at this very moment, in the mood I'm in right now... I really don't want the series to ever end. As long as they keep the story canon intact without punching holes in what's already been established, I'd be happy to explore more and more cultures and time periods with the AC series. It has a great kind of formula to it that allows a lot of leeway for introducing new elements and features, depending on each individual game's subject matter.

It could be cool, but they've already kind of ruled it out (as far as short-term plans go, at least). They've said the three main suggestions they get from fans are ancient Egypt, Japan, or a WWII setting. And they've said that none of those interest them.
In regards to Egypt specifically though, I think it's wise of them to pass on it for now. It's maybe a little too close in style to Prince of Persia, which was the AC studio's prior series of note. And besides that, it might be hard to justify Egypt from a story perspective, since the actual Assassins Brotherhood wasn't formed until the ten or eleven hundreds, well after any point where Egypt might seem relavent. Going back any further than that might start sending the series down the road of retcons, which is pretty undesirable.

I remember seeing chinese letters in the revelations I think in AC2, I think a setting during the opium wars would be interesting

If not Japan than China would be a great choice.

We already know of Shao Jun from the Chinese branch.Meeting Ezio before his death in Tuscany. So little is known about her.No doubt in my mind shedding some light on her role in the brotherhood would interest players.

I remember Ezio giving Shao Jun a box near the end of the movie. It might not be important, but I really want to know what it is.

Maybe they could set a game during the French Revolution. I keep picturing in my head a French assassin running through the streets trying to stop someone from receiving the guillotine.
