Technically it's already in HD. The PS2 had it and PS2 can be put to 720P.

^^The PS2 also had MGS2 and 3, and the HD release of those was still a big step up.
An HD version implies more than just an aspect ratio upscaling. Modified or sharpened textures, anti-aliasing... hell, maybe even higher polygon counts. The image they provided certainly points in all those directions.
So no, it wasn't already in HD. Not in the way they're suggesting.

^totally agree with you, and it's not even that hard to enhance mesh and textures

I only played the sequel. However NiGHTS to me seems like it was cool in 1996 and 3D was new and cool still. Analog controls from Nintendo on N64 was mind blowing then and it just seems NiGHTS is not something that ages well. Just a marvel once that is nothing special now.

One of the reasons to buy a Wii for me was the NiGHTS game back in the day. Prefer Shenmue HD though..

Saw this comment further down the page:

It's a track for Sonic & Sega Racing Transformed.

Silly EG.

The guy's probably right...

I'd love NiGHTS HD the original was my favorite game on the Saturn. Every time I play it I get so much nostalgia and I feel like I'm dreaming.

I never played either Nights game but recall its cult status and how fans were really pining for a sequel. Finally came out on Wii and people were "meh" about it. What makes the sequel so different and less worthy of the original?

I'd like to play this game if it truly is a remake they are teasing, but WTF Sega. Summer is halfway over and there's no official word on when Jet Set Radio is being released, they teased Shenmue/Skies a bit ago but since have confirmed Sonic Adventure 2 (do we really need another remake of this?) and now they are possibly teasing another fan favorite...I mean, this is good overall but they should be more consistent. Give us a date for Jet Set Radio and don't make fans think Shenmue/Skies are next and then announce Sonic 2 and Nights.

*shank*shank*shank*

and now I will remove your mustache as a trophy, I shall place it between Burt Reynolds' and Tom Selleck's.

and yea I really like NiGHTS, would be cool but is most likely a Sega Racing 2 track, which looks awesome.

People do this alot these days, most people clamoring for it never actually played NiGHTS while others didn't remember the game. The wii game has some bullshit moments, but its really enjoyable and is pretty damn good (and in my view a bit better then the original)

If the Wii version is better than the original then I don't want to play the original. Wii version was meh. Again NiGHTS is just a game that was a marvel in the 90's but can only be enjoyed today based on nostalgia.

The first time I heard of it and have seen anything about it until this was the toy capsules in Shenmue II.
