What annual game releases do you buy?

Postby JaySw34 » Tue Jul 21, 2015 8:59 pm

Be honest! :)

What games that come out with yearly iterations do you buy? As for me, I continually get sucked in to playing the new Assassins Creed every year. But I've slowly realized that they've continually gotten lazier and lazier and the series has lacked innovation. Therefore I will no longer buy it until it does something truly groundbreaking.

Besides that, the only other one I get every year is the NBA 2k games. I love basketball and I think that 2k Sports does an admirable job of recreating the ins and outs of the game of basketball in videogame form. Fantastic presentation as well. I always look forward to NBA 2k and buy it at launch every year.

MLB The Show. And actually I find myself playing a season match of it everyday. Quite addicting tbh. Its just a very well made sports game, something I cant say about any of the other sports games out there.

Pro Evolution series I buy nearly every year. The Master League is so addictive and even though admittedly there was a quality drop for a couple of years there, it has got much better the last couple of entries
I still prefer the series over Fifa.

None. I find games like that are way too similar to the previous years entry, those kinds of games are good to check out every few years though.

Used to get the Assassin's Creed games every year but haven't got around to playing Rogue/Unity. It seemed like storywise the game to play first was Rogue and I was just waiting for it to be ported to PS4.

I normally buy Football Manager every year but not on release day. I just get in the mood to play it about once a year and just buy the newest one on steam.

none, nada, ZILCH!
late comer to purchases in general.
a lot of things slip by, and for the best.
the rest is discovered by accident, or conversations elsewhere.
usually, two to three years behind, and it's worth it on account of remaining funds to hand.
i bought a wiiu recently (pre-owned, in mint condition for 150gbp) cheap too, but it's still too soon for my blood, back in the box and kicked into a dark corner it went.

Until 2013 - starting in 2009 - it was Call of Duty, but that ship has long since sailed. Other than that: nothing.

I really liked the sound of Assassin's Creed: Syndicate when it was first leaked/announced, but my interest has waned considerably since - it just doesn't look all that interesting or grabbing enough to convert those who dropped out of the series way-back-when.

Also, they could have had something really going for them if it turned out that you, the assassin, ended up becoming Jack the Ripper - of which I'm a bit of a fanatic - and the assassination targets turned out to be Templar agents/affiliates, but behind-the-scenes manipulation of events convinced the public the victims were helpless prostitutes, turning all attention and hatred towards you instead. But that doesn't seem to be the case, sadly
