Chase: Unsolved Cases Investigation Division

Postby Riku Rose » Sun Mar 20, 2016 7:25 am

For those who loved the Hotel Dusk games it looks like we're going to get a spiritual sequel of some kind.

Another Code: Two Memories, Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and Last Window: The Secret of Cape West director Taisuke Kanasaki has announced an upcoming 3DS detective game called Chase: Unsolved Cases Investigation Division.

As reported by Gematsu (translating its official Japanese site), several staffers from the now defunct developer Cing - who worked on the aforementioned Kanasaki titles - will be working on Chase at Arc System Works.

According to Gematsu, "Chase promises a deep and dramatic detective story with dynamic images that makes the best use of adult-enjoyable, good old hard-boiled adventure."

Chase: Unsolved Cases Investigation Division is slated for a spring release on the Japanese 3DS eShop. No western launch has been announced at this time.

Aksys announced that they are bringing this over:

The new 3DS adventure game is from Arc System Works, Another Code and Hotel Dusk: Room 215 director Taisuke Kanasaki, and former CING staff.

Here’s an overview of the game’s story:

Tokyo Third Police Station, Unsolved Cases Investigation Division.

There are two detectives in this department never exposed to sunlight. There’s the eccentric detective Shonosuke Nanase and the self-proclaimed elite detective Koto Amekura. The two had too much time on their hands when they received phone a call.

The explosion five years ago. “That was not an accident. It was murder.” They did not know the caller’s identity, but although that strange phone call was not much to go on, they decided to begin an investigation. Was this really a case…?

First, they talk to the boy who caused the explosion. “Anything that isn’t 100 percent impossible is within the realm of the expected….” With Amekura’s words, Nanase finally kicks into action.

Chase the truth of the incident once put to rest!

So now we have this and The Silver Case both coming in Fall/Autumn. What a year for Japanese adventure games this is! Just playing Zero Time Dilemma and it's bringing it all back to me why I love these kind of games so much.

Just played this.

It only takes around ninety minutes to complete. The story is interesting enough, though it does leave several questions unanswered. The two main characters aren't that interesting in my opinion; I was disappointed with Nanase, he may resemble Kyle Hyde, but he has no where near as much character.

Game play is pretty light, most of it is just answering questions to check you've been paying attention to what's going on. There are a couple of investigations where you have to pick out an object in a one screen photograph, but these investigations are brief.
