Online Genesis Games

[My Best Day is Gone]

Me and LanDC have been playing loads and loads of Outrunners (a two player version of Outrun) and have been having loads of fun with it...

So I thought why not invite MORE people to play online Genesis games... I mean currently on the Kaillera servers there seem to be more MAME users... so why not increase the amount of Gens players

It'd be fun... imagine fighting your buddies at Shenmue Dojo in Super Street Fighter II Turbo... trust me... you guys gotta try this.

I tried this recently. I also tried it with Street Fighter Alpha 3.

Actually, it's not that bad.

It was very humbling to get my ass kicked a few times and it was very fun to school a few players as well.
("Desync! Desync!" No, just kidding. That excuse never works.)

I don't use it very often because I don't like playing a game with a keyboard that's meant to be played with a controller. I don't have a PC controller.

did you guys know that the actual megadrive console was online in japan, some adapter came out and there were very few games, it failed but it did exsist.

I don't know anything about GENS, but I was using WinKawaks for playing a few arcade roms (Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter Alpha 3, King of Fighters '98, etc.) online.

Playing Genesis roms online sounds like fun.

It existed in America too... it was for SNES and Genesis... it was called Xband... it failed also... maybe it was the same as the one released in Japan.

Anyway to play online Genesis games goto http://gens.consolemul.com/ and download Gens 2.11 (the latest version) to play online you just select Netplay from the file menu... (If your using an older version it does not appear.)

Other emulators are online too... such as MAME you can find out which are by going here : http://www.kaillera.com/download.php

Also you can play 32X games online with the same Gens emulator and Sega CD (Don't remember if there were any two player games for that)

You can get the 32X and Sega CD bios from that site ;) It also has every Sonic game to have existed! (ISO/ROM format)

Remember to choose a server that suites both you and the person your playing with best (the closer to where you live the server the lower your ping) It plays near lagless sometimes with Outrunners

And yes... LanDC is pretty damn good at Outrunners... but Outrunners doesn't have nearly as many cars in the damn way as the original...lol

I wouldn't recommend playing the MAME version of Outrunners online... it has graphical issues.... (MAME doesn't emulate all of it's visuals accurately causing confusion sometimes.)

Keep in mind that the rom must be named the same as the person your playing....

I don't change many of the names so...
Oh and be sure to have each others IM handle so you can plan before going on kaillera

NeoRageX (I guess that's what you mean) is old and outdated according to my research. Only use it if you have a low-end computer. I'd use either WinKawaks or MAME over NeoRageX.
