Sure there are greedy ass companies that exploit the hell out of artists but if you don't buy a product, that can inadvertently hurt the artist. Especiallly a small time artist or really ambitious one that is talented and is trying to get their big break. Bigger well-established artists can survive alright. Unless they specifically put their work out for free (xkcd, brad sucks, ect) its not free. I pirate sometimes too, and other pirate cause they cannot have access to the material in their area or what have you, but its stupid to think people are doing this thinking its some sort of right or Robin Hood kind of deal.
Amen brother, amazing post
