Why are people so up in arms about a bad ending? One od the better RPG's of the PSone era Grandia had horrific VA and a terrible ending. yet a great game. Despite the bad ending I loved the game.

Played quite a few great games with lame to bad endings. Oh well the rest of it was great. Ok so it's a 3 game arc. Played series like that also with a meh to bad ending. Oh well. Rest of it was great. People need to get over it

Its not just bad, it blows a massive plot hole into everything thats come before it in 5 minutes and makes everything in ME1 100% pointless.

Its a Russo swevre or mega trolling by Bioware. Not to mention the amount of lies that came out from Bioware.

And any game that ends with a Buy DLC message can go fuck itself when its ending is that bad. Its not even just the ending thats pissed people off, at times it feels unfinished with odd bugs and the lack of dialogue trees for Shep. You spend most cutscenes simply watching which is very un Bioware like.

It's hard to describe how bad the ending was in words and why so many people take issue with it. To me a "bad" ending is what you have in Star Trek Voyager, where the borg seem to have convenient access to Earth at any time they want to take a crack at it, but just seem to ignore it with no explanation. Or how Voyager just "appears" miraculously from an exploding borg cube with no explanation for how or why in one big head scratcher moment that neither entertains or gives the viewer with a satisfying feeling leaving the show.

But what Bioware did with mass effect? It would be like if Voyager instead ended on a note elaborating on how racism is a good thing after all, or how xenophobia and the maintaining of the status quo are "safe" and exploring new possibilities should never be considered because the unknown is "scary". In short, it would be completely undermining of the values and themes that had been built up by an entire mythos just to flush them straight down the crapper for no reason anyone can imagine.

Well, that and the writers that had been with the series since the first game were excluded from the ending writing process so the director could make something up then leave us with a final message on how we need to by DLC if we want to learn more.
