I happened to read that thing about Southpark yesterday. It's kind of sad, it reinforces existing prejudice and they never seem to get that.
I remember with the cartoons there. Several papers in Belgium printed it again and created some new ones the day after as protest against freedom of speech. There was also a wave of attacks against mosques in some European countries after that which surprised me since people usually just take things for granted here.
On the other hand, these days they're busy finishing a law there that prohibits the use of clothing that makes it impossible to identify a person. Of course there's lots of nagging again that this is specifically about burka's. Well, it does make identification impossible and already earlier, the police didn't really like it when people just walked around the street in let's say a Halloween-styled mask either
