My favorite anime series of all time, Welcome to the NHK. Its one of the most well written, deepest, anime I've ever seen. I just got through my third time watching it, enjoying it each time. Its one of the only series I would give a 10. Heres a HD link to the first episode:

A Night on the Galactic Railroad in honor of the newest Kenji adaptation that Ziming posted. Highly recommended, if you haven't seen it. But only if you're into quiet, subtle, allegorical stuff.

I'm currently watching Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni.Exact genre of anime I'm looking for.I love the twists and turns and the horror aspect is great.I wasn't really into anime when the box set was released and I sure do regret it.Asking price on amazon is $300,fuck that.

That actually sounds about what the anime industry would expect you to pay for a box set. They seem to be living in a fantasy world when pricing their product. If you were to buy Code Geass in the 3 episode dvd's when they first came out at $25 a pop, you would be looking at $400 for the complete 50 episode series.

Sakamichi no Apollon. I had no clue Shinichirou Watanabe was doing anything new and find out today that not only is he directing a new show, but its already airing and is 8 episodes into the series. First episode was ok. Not as exciting as Bebop because its just about high school kids. Still worth checking out if you liked the music in Bebop(Yoko Kanno is doing the score) or just like Jazz in general. I'm only 1 ep in so I expect it will pick up once the situation is fully set up.

Also, the Goddess that is YUKI performs the OP theme song.

I agree with this, it seems to be a trend in anime. Tenjou Tenge (another martial arts anime) does the exact same thing and cuts off when the real story is just about to begin.
