How long have you been a member at the dojo?

Except the dojo has been around with many incarnations of the board before this one dating back to around 2000 when then it was Called Ryo's place eventually Andy (creator of the dojo) changed the the name to Shenmue Dojo.
Then later struck a deal with Gamespy to host it and eventually HR was given the reigns of the site.
So some members have been here 8 years and still hang out in the community whether it be this forum or HD or Shenmue UK or a combination.

I've been a member for about 5 years (the date that's under my name). I did follow the forum a while before though and didn't intend to register at first.

The Dreamcast and specifically Shenmue got me back into gaming actually. I started with the Master System II when I was little but skipped the "32/64-bit" generation due to a temporary lack of interest and time. Eventually I wanted some console again and started looking at the DC which had some games that I wanted. Seeing Shenmue amongst them immediately closed the deal after I had seen some trailers and read some more about the game. I just HAD to play that game almost regardless of other games on the console

Which is what eventually led to me registering here and joining the others for an excruciating wait.

The board before Ikonboard when the site was Ryo's Place. I can't remember what year it was exactly but I think it was 2000. I remember hitting 300 posts on the day JAPANFAN joined for some reason :?:

Not to reminisce, but back then there were only stock avatars to choose from, I remember Andy had the black background with Andy marqueeing across it, Iwao had unsurprisingly a picture of Iwao and me and all the other newbs stole Xzibit-san's because it was by far the best :twisted:
