Automotive Discussion

Right! We should have had a rolling thread for this by now. :judge:
Im sure we have before but lets try and keep it going.

Talk all about your car, post pictures, idea's etc.
Talk about your dream car/bike or about any cars/bikes in general.

Oh and I think boats with wheels are neat too, but try to keep it IRL.

I'm down for a serious auto thread without derailing, etc. Float may be a bit premature, though leave it as it'll help get it started.

OK! So for my entry here I have my old car. I just got a new one so that will come after I make a post about this one :)

A 2001 Toyota Solara V6 auto.

It was a pretty great car for a first one. I had it for about 8 years. From high school all the way until marriage.
Lots of memories. Good and bad.
Real memorable shot is here when I put it away in storage before moving to Japan.

It sat there for more than 2 years and when I came back to it. I put the battery in and vroom. Started right up. Thats Toyota for you.
Decided after 75,000 miles. (which is considerably low considering the year) That if I am going to get any return in life for it that it was worth selling. So I sold it and got a good amount to fund my new one. So there we are!

Nah, he had that. I rode in it back in '06 when I was in Cali for a trip. Met him and Sean for the first time then.

I don't drive but used to have a car. 1951 packard just like this one.
Except mine needed a lot of work. Dad had it in the garage for almost 30 years. Tried to sell it but no dice. Now just sitting on a uncles field rotting away. Was no big deal to me. Don't even like cars.

If it was in anything close to the condition of the one above, it'd be pretty beautiful.

Mine is undergoing some upgrading at the moment, so it'll be out and about in a couple of weeks. Just in time for the warm weather and shows. Just put in quite a bit of cash finishing off my build.

Have a 1997 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4, also known in Japan and the UK as a Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo MR (MK3). #252/510 made. Pics when the build is complete, couple of weeks hopefully! Waiting on the last parts to come in.

For the car guys, ordered the following:

Walbro 255
Denso 450cc Injectors
Fuel Hot Wire Kit
Apexi SAFC2
Front Mount Intercooler w/ polished aluminum piping
Megan Suspension
Engine Dress Up Kit (Clean up useless stuff in the engine bay, pretty her up, etc.)

With this I'll be able to safely supply enough fuel to raise the boost on the bigger turbos I installed, thus putting down some good power. Not to mention looking pretty as hell doing it. :-"

Well, here's me in my 2006 Mustang GT. I haven't had the chance to do anything major with it yet. I'll probably get a CAI and hand-held tuner for it this summer.

My new car is a Mini Cooper S '06 (R53) 6-speed Manual

Its a car i've always wanted. And considering the price range and capabilities it was an easy choice for me.
My last car was kinda big and long, even for a 2 door. I wanted to get away from that and move into something that was more fun and different.
I also wanted to get something that had a future for me in modifications.
The '06 S R53 has a supercharger that comes with it to produce around 173hp. With the improvements I have in mind ill be able to get it up to around ~210. For a car that weigh's so little that means a whole lot of fun! Maybe I will maybe I wont. But so far ive done with it what I wanted visually.

Ive done:
17' rims with Kumo tires (put official MINI caps in the center)
H&R Coilover suspension
Tint all around
John Cooper Works modeled front bumper with its front ground kit

In the future I might go for
Miltek exhaust system
Alta Cold Air Intake
Denso Irridium IK22 spark plugs & new wires
Alta -15% or -17% reduction supercharger pulley
Rear sway bar

:)

CAT AND MOUSE.

Looks good Alex! 173hp where, at the crank? Should put it on a dyno and see what it makes at the wheels. Fun power to weight ratio, considering those things weigh less than a feather. Probably get good gas mileage too, supercharger or not.

Good luck with it, looks nice man.

(BTW didn't you just buy the car? Did it come with everything you listed or something?)

Ya my model has been reported stock from 168-173hp not sure if at the wheels or crank. I do want to dyno before and after I do my future mods. So far to get what I wanted done with suspension, wheels and tint its set me back abit so I plan on getting the other stuff done around summer time.
And ya I get great gas mileage. :)

Recently I also joined a Mini's club here in San Diego and had a meet alittle while ago.

That was a small meet. We ran through some great canyon's and mountain trails. The club in San Diego has around 90 members and then theirs also a regional Southern California club that has around 350 members. Should be rollin with all those mini's. Alot of them are the classic's too. Or as some of the brits in the club call, "Proper" mini's.

Jealous of warm weather and easy to have meets over there, so nice.

Then again I'd never want to mess with your smog tests, I don't even run catalytic converters on my VR-4. Straight pipe. :-$
