As mentioned before, I currently work in retail but the company I work for does not offer much hours nor does it allow you to work for any rival firms. I got a job with a rival firm (temporary contract, the reason I never quit the other permanent one) and there was a timetable clash on a couple of days.
Told my manager I can't do Sundays any more, he then ask why, I say its because I got an internship (just finished university) at another firm. He's like OK, allows me for Sundays on a study leave and will get people to cover me if it goes on for longer. Thing is, he goes on to tell pretty much everyone that I got an internship people ask me and I have to lie and the lie just becomes more widespread and complex. Now I have to actually research on the lie, find out hours, task and pay a typical intern would do just to satisfy a manager who it a bit too interested.
