Cant wait to go back home to california for vacation next month. Negative sides of Japan are killing me. Seriously re-thinking my long term approach to living here permanently. When I come back from vacation ill start exploring the thin job market for gaijin and see if I end up with something better. Otherwise im working solo and setting my own terms. I'm too American to deal with some of these people.

Communication problems, undermining, and unrealistic expectations. I don't want to get too much into it cause its hard to explain in detail but basically when someone has a problem with something you should be able to talk about it like equal adults. Here in Japan you see alot of going around peoples backs, gossiping and unwillingness to change or realize not everyone is the same.

Me, my coworkers other people ive talked to, we all have had to deal with difficult people here from time to time. I dont mean to be sexist but its usually middle aged menopause power control obsessed women. We have them in the states too, but here they are on another level. They poison the entire room and suck the life out of you and everyone else.

And its not the first time ive had to deal with them. Last time I lived in Japan I had a "Dragon lady" to deal with, then last year another one and then this year im in a new office and its the worst ive ever seen. Then my coworkers in other offices in higher/different positions tell me about their dragon ladies and its just a bleak looking future..

Ah, another foreigner complaining about Japan and their ways. -) It is true, though, that managers here are often terribly incompetent - especially from a foreigner's point of view.

can be, in small doses.
temporary trade of pain (spirit burn) for throat sterilization.
be better off with actually tried and tested remedies, such as:
1, cough/throat syrup.
2, throat lozenges (tunes and lockets are good examples, but don't go overboard, it's still a medicine.)
3, salt water, but that's a last resort, tastes like shit, and may induce projectile vomiting.
