I got a new monitor today.

This is important because for the first time I realized the background on the main page of the site is not solid black but is actually a dark gray image of what appears to be concept art.

I usually keep the brightness on my monitors fairly low to reduce eye strain, but this one has better contrast than my previous monitor did so I can actually notice differences in dark colored images now. (Both the old one and the new one are IPS displays, so it was probably down to the fact that I didn't calibrate the old one)

I recommend trying out f.lux. It's a program that adjusts the colors of your monitor to reduce eye strain, kind of like what those Gunnar Glasses do but without costing any money.

It took me some time to get used to the adjusted colors, but once I did, it made a big difference. Disabling f.lux after using it for awhile is like being in a dark room with dark-adjusted eyes and someone hitting the light switch.

I had actually been using flux for a long time. (But started after I had already been using monitors on low brightness)

I uninstalled it 2 weeks ago, because Apple added NightShift to macOS which does the same thing as flux except you don't have to manually set the time of day that it activates and instead it automatically engages at sunset. Even then I don't really need it anymore because my new monitor has a built in "Blue light filter" option which serves the same purpose although that has to be enabled manually. I was kind of sick of the orange tint from using flux for so long.

What if the fashion industry uses skinny girls not to attack the insecurities of women, but to give them hope that they're not just flat out ugly while giving them the scapegoat of just being fat (and something you can change) ?
