Good combo, Thief. Arrival is practically the only new purely intellectual science fiction out there, and Only Yesterday is probably the most introspective anime film I've ever seen.

OL plays guitar. Cool. Never knew that.

Bought an external 1TB drive for my XB1. Probably won't take that long to get it up to 93% also.

Also got the missing cables for the PS2 I've still got kicking about. Gonna play FF12 after I've finished FF15, since 12 was a fun game but I never completed it. Like a spaz I somehow managed to get TWO PSUs for it by accident though, not quite sure how I managed that... ](*,)

Posted this in the wrong thread. Anywho...

My old as fuck joystick of 10+ years died so I am going to use that as an excuse to get my first HOTAS joystick, the thrustmaster T.16000M.

I'm excited. I want to get rudder pedals as well, but the paddle on the throttle may negate the need for that. I'm excited.

I can't believe what an expensive commodity retro games have become in the last few years, when I think about all the missed opportunities. The inflation of retro items at least makes sense, they are finite items from the past with no chance of another run, people get old enough to start feeling nostalgic around the same time they have access to real disposable income and the free market takes over.

What I find less understable is how scalping has become an seemingly normal part of buying new gaming stuff. Why aren't companies able to better measure demand and put an end to this? Nintendo's handling of the NES mini situation was a shambles.

Well, it'll likely be the smallest collection I'll have for a long time. 8)

30 bottles of Kroger sparkling water in Grape,Black Cherry and Key lime for the month. Stuff tastes like soda but none of the sugar or calories. Quit soda in 2015. A lot of brands say sparkling water but taste like seltzer. Kroger has some good stuff.

Replacement for my 660, first real thing I've treated myself to in ages.

That's a popular card around the dojo. Ziming, Peter and myself all use a 1060. (different variants though, I use a MSI)

I would have gone with a 480x for mining, but none were ever in stock for the longest time.

I had a feeling you might have something to say about it. The 480 Nitro (the variant you wanted if I remember) is actually in stock and cheaper here, I looked at the benchmarks, weighed it up and for me there wasn't enough of a difference between it and a 1060 to sway me from my preference. I'm not an Nvidia fanboy or anything but I've always been very happy with their mid-range offerings.

I also bought 30 metres (about 100 ft) of CAT 7 network cable, it's certainly given me a speed boost over the powerline adapter I was using (my PC is in the attic) but it's quite thick and having it run through the walls here is expensive, I am wondering if it the flat cable type is robust enough to stapled along a baseboard/skirting from opposite ends of the house.

I've been doing quite a bit of online shopping lately. My wife hasn't been too happy about it. I added a few coins to my collection:

1. A 5 Reichpfennig coin from 1940. It was after they stopped minting them with silver (stopped in 1939 I believe), but a cool coin nonetheless.

2. A 1856 French Napoleon coin, don't know much about it, but the price was right and it's cool lol.

3. A Russian Kopeck that is between 433 and 470 years old. Made during Ivan the Terrible's rule. It's what they call a "silver wire" coin. They would take s thick silver wire, cut off a small piece (hence it's imperfect shape) and then they would hammer the details into it.

I then bought Maus volume 1 and 2. If you aren't sure what that is, it is a graphic novel telling the story of his father's survival in the Holocaust. The Nazis are portrayed as cats and the Jews as mice.

And the last thing I bought was an autographed picture of Kevin Smith. The picture is of him as Silent Bob dressed up as Batman in Mallrats. Comes with a certificate of authenticity from Beckett.
