Kenny wrote: Trailers are not gonna show everything.

The two biggest things based off the trailers that they did show off that give me hope are characters exploring (or fighting in) an old, desolated star destroyer (fucking awesome) and the idea of the remaining imperial soldiers becoming mercenaries being led any other big baddie. Those are exciting prospects that can go a number of different ways.

What i'm talking about are my fears of what could potentially happen in either this film or any of the next two helmed by anyone who is a fanboy. I stated this quite clearly in my previous post. And what does referencing Darth Vader or not have anything to do what I said? It's impossible not to, Anakin is one of the most pivotal and important characters in the Star Wars saga. He deserves at least a mention. I'm talking about clearly avoidable things that I fear will not be avoidable due to fanboyish intentions.

I agree. It could go either way. Still, it's exciting, no?

Despite my seeming heated rambling, yes.

It still is.

After seeing Harrison Ford say "Chewie we're home" I'd seen enough so I've knocked this latest trailer on the head.

My local cinema seems to have sold the majority of tickets for the first day already. I'll probably see this opening day or close to it but I'm not buying a ticket 2 months before. It'll probably be like when I went to see Avatar in a group of 4 and we all had to spread out on our own as there was just 4 random seats left.

I noticed other people are jumping on and trying to play catch up since it's sort of a trendy thing now.

Nerd and Geekdom are becoming more central in pop culture than ever before.

I remember when Episode I came out that pretty much everyone was on the hype train. I don't really remember the same level of hype for the two films after that.

Are people seriously hearing everyone talking about it non stop though. Other than online all I've heard from people is that they want to see it, no one I know is buying their tickets 2 months before, waiting for the trailers and running around with action figures. I think that the Internet just makes things seem more common for nerd culture shit.

It's not just a recent thing anyway, the original Star Wars was the biggest film ever when it came out and changed the entertainment industry.

^There's a guy in my office who will not shut up about it. He's a Star Wars nut. Also, I'm seeing Star Wars stuff everywhere - Battlefront has been pretty hard to ignore and online everywhere it's talk about Star Wars and Star Wars avatars everywhere. It's cool that people love Star Wars but for those of us who only like Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi... :-&

Nope. Never have done. Then again never been a real Star Wars fan either. I feel that RotJ ended really well and see this extra movie as a money grab relying on nostalgia [even though the prequel films sucked] and the trailers really haven't made me feel any differently about that.

I think the guy that put the robot hand on R2 in the trailer was Luke.

And you're definitely right. Once Disney got their hands on it, boom--three greenlit sequel films.

The hope is that they don't feel very derivative and feel like their existence is justified, though honestly ROTJ is such a perfect end to the OT that these sequels feel nothing but fan service galore.
