Eh, I think it is more of a sign that our shitty insurance system needs to go. In the past corporations were allowed to pay their employees in tokens to buy things such as food and hosing. Of course the only place that accepted these tokens was the company that was handing them out. Companies being able to provide insurance to their employees reminds me of that old system, which forces an employee to be reliant on the company. If we are to keep this shitty insurance system, just make it so that people can afford to pay for basic healthcare.
I think this bill will be shot down, though. This is literally allowing discrimination based on race (what is race other than your genetic history?), and if it does pass and employees start using such measures, I can see it heading straight to the supreme court to be ruled unconstitutional. Employers shouldn't be able to pick and choose who gets healthcare or pay someone less just because of their "genetic history."
EDIT: I also was sure to read the full text (I can't trust anything other than primary sources these days)
here. Thanfully the bill is short enough to read and easily digest. I found that the article covers what the bill says pretty well and it is certainly not fake news.
