He really phoned it in with Force Awakens, though I'll try to remain hopeful. :D

Sorry I haven't followed the movie very closely. Who's working on it from Force Awakens? Other than Ford that is lol. His role is very small from all accounts. It was filming for months before they brought him on board. I think the city looks great. Looking forward to seeing more of it. Very glad its not a remake.

Despite being one of my favorites, I hope Ford doesn't get too much screen time. He's had absolutely no enthusiasm in any movie he's been in for the last 10 years or so. Gosling is an odd choice, but I like him, so I'll try to be optimistic.

The original is my fave movie of all time. Glad the director is on a tear right now... His Sicario and Arrival were very atmospheric movies, and Gosling has always been a top solid actor... so hopes are very high for me.

I loved the first one, but I don't have good vibes about this one.

i would say yes.

the original is a classic, i highly recommend it but make sure to watch the directors cut of blade runner. (the standard movie, which i dont even know if you can get(?) has harrison ford narrating the whole movie and was originally a flop at the box office)

+ IMO the movie is not about harrisons ford's character its about humanoid androids who almost become human. so watching the original one will give you a better idea of the "world".. also the actor, Rutger Hauer is amazing in the film.

Watching the original should come first. Watch either the Director's Cut, or the Final Cut (the latter being Ridley Scott's preferred version)

Regarding Blade Runner 2049- everything looks amazing. They really found the perfect director in Denis Villeneuve. Full confidence in the flick....as long as Harrison Ford isn't his 21st century grumpy self.

Can you blame him for being grumpy spending 30 more years in that place, regardless if he stuck to Blade Running? He wasn't exactly a ray of sunshine in the original either way.

I have high hopes for the director as well as Ryan Gosling.

Oh believe me, if the part calls for a grumpy performance, I'm fully confident Harrison Ford will nail it ;)

Blade Runner is my favorite movie, and I'm all sorts of wondering "why the fuck is a Blade Runner 2 necessary?", but even still, this director has yet to make a movie that I didn't love (only seen Prisoners, Sicario, and Arrival), so that's good enough for me.

Plus, who cares if there's a bad sequel to Blade Runner? If it exists, it's not going to change anything about the original. People in general place too much emphasis on canon. None of this happened, they're just movies, whatever. Maybe I'm just getting old, but there're so many movies and games and shit now that I just don't give a fuck anymore. If it's bad, so be it.

Also, Harrison Ford is very meh in general. He wasn't that great in the original, don't really care about him in the sequel. Whatever.

EDIT: The "who cares" questions I'm asking aren't really in direct response to anyone here, but rather, a conflict between my current self and other past selves (in which I might have cared more about pointless shit, like the 21st century remake/sequel craze).

Hell I am just excited because Since Snatcher is heavily influenced by Blade Runner that means that we can kind of see what a snatcher finale/sequel might have looked like!
