Grizzled Dojo Vets...question.

This topic is for the Shenmue dojo vets who have been here for ages who have had hopes slashed and dashed on Shenmue 3 now we play our GTA4 or MGS4 Metroid Prime 3 or Okami or Yakuza or whatever on our new shiny 360's PS3's and Wii's.


I want to know how many of you still sometimes set aside your doom and gloom and tell the fucking n00bs to get off our lawns!..
You just go inside dust off the DC and Shenmue forget that it is 2008 and think back when it was 1999 when DC was THE system to own in the newest thing.
Shenmue is new again and you play just like you did back then..take your sweet time with the game inhale the story the music the detail and atmosphere and be drawn in this experience.
You feel for a brief time feel like a younger self.

I am in that sorta mood for the past week or so and it feels so awesome.

I miss the times when I just eat ramen and run through the harbor and streets just for the sake of running. All without a care in the world.

I have alot of criticisms of the game, alot. I'm probably one of the more honest fans out there. But none of it can bring down that experience, that experience alone.

I play Shenmue at least once a month, without fail. To be shenmue seems to be timeless, and i get more pleasure out of playing it then i get out of any game to date. I still remember fondly the times when Dreamcast was top, and the day i first played Shenmue.

Just yesterday I got a Dreamcast for Melissa and I for reasons like those.

Can't wait to start Shenmue up and experience those feelings all over again.

Yeah man, Shenmue is still one of the only games that gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. Timeless; the Dreamcast is still on the shelf, ready to roll.

Fuck Sega up the ass. They can fuck about with Shenmue III all day long, I can play Shenmue I & II when I want.

I've done that (although it takes me back to a bit later- 2001). And although I love it still, the nostalgia can bring me down.

Eh, my Dreamcast has bit the dust unfortunately. It will start up but won't read any discs. I haven't played the original Shenmue in a good 5 or 6 years, and since my Xbox has suffered the same fate I haven't played the 2nd in about 3 maybe 4 years. God, I really want to play it too. We really need a Wii port.

yeah im playing shenmue currently.

my third disked skips and just isn't perfect.
if i try to go home my dreamcast freezes.
i always had a problem with the third disk on shenmue one.

also on shenmue 2 on the fourth disk it wont even boot up.
badly scratched not deep scratches just a lot of them.

That's why yours truly started an annual tradition on GameFAQs of playing through the game around Thanksgiving every year. Annual, as in two years running, but still, hopefully this'll be three... c.c
