Random Shenmue Thoughts

Looking at that video makes you realize how every piece of Shenmue seems to weight more than most games.

When you talk about replayability about naming a cat, that's something. Even today were you have hundreds of missions, collectibles and bullshit, in Shenmue even naming a cat has a bigger impact than "killing the dragon at suckass mountain and getting the sword of whateverthefuck".

All GTA games are just mindless nonsense. FUN mindless nonsense... but mindless nonsense nonetheless.

Shenmue is an exquisitely designed EPIC series of games that (unfortunately) not everyone has the capacity to appreciate.

Hopefully, over these 15 years, gamers tastes have matured and Shenmue will finally achieve the commercial success it deserves.

I think I've made peace with the fact Shenmue was never going garner a mainstream audience. The pace and nature of the game requires a lot more patience with its moment to moment gameplay than many other traditional sandbox titles.

The good news is that hopefully with a dedicated fanbase and intelligent advertising campaign future titles can find a niche audience to support Suzuki and co in future endeavours.

I am absolutely ADORING this piece. Such an iconic moment. I would love if Shenmue 3 opened with some cinematics with this playing over it. Like a camera following slowly behind Ryo and Shenhua as they exit that tight corridor at the beginning of the cave, in slow motion. As they step out into the light, it reads Shenmue III.

I'm going through this MrXmas "playthrough" since lunch break.
It's cool to live again the story from office, plus I find the comments full of houmor.

Not to mention the huge amount of time dedicated to this... but yeah, i was maybe a little bit to overwhelmed.
