Why does everyone say Quick "Time" Event?

Well this is bugging me for years and I recently thought about it again. I just had to bring this up now.

We all know how Shenmue revolutionized games in almost every way when it came out and the QTEs were one of the things it made popular. They were around before but it was Shenmue that called them QTE like everybody does now.

But when people use the full name rather then the acronym the always seem to say "Quick Time Event" but Shenmue always clearly calls them "Quick Timer Event". When and why did everybody, even Shenmue fans started to drop the r in Timer? This really annoys me sometimes as even official sites like Wikipedia call them "Quick Time Event" right next to the fact that Yu Suzuki coined the term with Shenmue.

If you think about it "Quick Timer Event" also makes alot more sense. It implies that there is an event that is running on a really short timer, like a countdown of 3 seconds whereas "Quick Time Event" makes me to think of a promotion for Apples video programm.

We changed it to Quick Time Event because it's less awkward to say.

Wow, I were never aware that QTE was actually "Quick Timer Event" (I always believe it was the common one). Good call! I'll use that from now on.

Pretty sure I've also seen them referred to as Quick Timed Events, which to me makes the most sense of them all.

We're nerds debating the use of a past tense form of spelling for QTE's on a internet forum for a 12 year old game.

Hear us roar.

Might as well shut down the Internet then, since 90% of the topics discussed don't really matter. Doesn't mean they can't be pondered over by the curious in the precious seconds it takes, though.

Oh dont get me wrong. Im not questioning the validity of the topic. However, this doesnt change the fact it would look hilarious to anyone who isnt a Shenmue fan.
Continue your debate.

Because if wikipedia says it then it has to be true. Personally i think quick time events is easiest off the tongue so that's generally what i go with.
