Question: Shenmue Orchestra Version

Postby Bane » Fri Aug 29, 2014 9:33 am

Hello, I today received a CD of the Shenmue Orchestra sound track that I recently purchased from ebay. Upon looking up the track listing online I seem to find all versions list just 8 tracks while mine has 13 tracks?

Were there two versions? Any information would be appreciated, including the English translations of the extra tracks so I can update my iTunes library.

Just also wanted to say it is great to see this website/forum still alive and going, this is the first time I've actually logged into the forum for years but I do check the main site now and again to see if there are any significant updates in the world of Shenmue. I ended up buying the the orchestra soundtrack on a whim after seeing it on ebay, its bringing back some great memories :D

A bit more info from my side, looking at this website...
http://vgmdb.net/album/598

It lists the catalog number as - POCX-1116, and the label as Polygram.

On my CD the catalog number seems to be A&G-110 and the label is SM Records Ltd.

Your CD is a bootleg, an unofficial release. I guess there are a couple of versions, depending on what company was bold enough to sell the stolen material.

VGMdb lists one of the variants: http://vgmdb.net/album/11428

Ah, thats a bit of a shame. The ebay listing didn't mention it was a bootleg, but then again I guess there is a good chance that they were unaware themselves.

From what I can tell the original Polygram version is pretty much unattainable at this point so I guess I can't be too disappointed over it, the CD cover, booklet and CD image all look pretty good even if it is a bootleg.

Still trying to figure what the extra tracks are, I'm guessing it just different versions of Shenhua. I took a picture of the back of the CD if anyone can help.

The extra tracks are from the "You're my only..." and "Shenhua ~Jiang Qing Ri Bao Hua Ge~". These were released on some mini-audio CD I think. See the music download page below. The mp3/flac rips are from the original soundtracks.
