As you may know I am currently living and working in Tokyo. A couple of months ago Ziming sent me a private message telling me there was a special Sega event coming up in Tokyo celebrating Sega music from all consoles. Luckily for us Shenmue was included. I am not sure how strict the rules are with cameras but I tried my best to get a good recording for you guys without getting thrown out.

It was absolutely amazing to hear the music played to perfection. After the song was played there was talk of Shenmue 3 but I don't know what was said as I can't understand Japanese but I will give the footage to Ziming at some point.

I've linked the website so that you can see all the songs that were played and also all Sega composers and musicians who were there.

Hope you enjoy and sorry for the odd positioning and scuffling noises I was trying to be stealthy!

Thank you for sharing! I'm very curious as to what else they played. From the photo you included, I can see Daytona USA, NiGHTS Into Dreams, and Space Channel 5.

Wow! This sounds amazing! I love the sound of the Urhu and at .53 seconds when everything kicks back in. Sounds so mystical and then powerful!

So great of you to record it, I hope you had an incredible time!

That played a lot of sonic songs. Most of them in a medley and also space harrier. They may have played some songs from the taiko drum arcade game too!

It was a great experience! I am glad I got to share it with the dojo as I knew Ziming was very interested to hear it!

Thanks for bringing this to us! It's great to see a Japanese orchestra perform this.

Like all the performances I heard so far, it didn't fully match the original. At the rising part between 2:06 and 2:19 they skipped a step and they might've given the erhu a little too much free room towards the end. I hate to nitpick about these things but my ears are so tuned towards the original that I spot these things so easily. After all the original is... well the original and what we "grew up" with.

Still thumbs up for this!

A very interesting arrangement of the main theme, thanks for recording it!

Couple little things about it are off, but there are a few areas where I think the changes improved the song. I really wouldn't mind hearing a more refined version of this arrangement for say, a Shenmue III trailer in the future.
