The DC should have no issues with playing this release if itll boot other things. I suggest trying a different blank media or testing on another console to see if your laser is failing to read the disc.

Confirmed Working and Self Booting on USA NTSC Vanilla Dreamcast on CD-R.
Burnt with Alcohol 120 with Raw DAO and Buffer Underrun.

Hi, just a quick post here to thanks sm1th! After so many years I finally got the opportunity to discover Shenmue and I'm glad I can do it with an undub version. Like others said it's not perfect but I prefer play it by far this way than with any english dub. It's more immersive and should have been released this way by SEGA. Kogami's version might be perfect but I may have finished the game before he even release it so yes thank you Sm1th !

I planned to distribute the CD 1 and 2 on CD-R 80/99 today.

I uploaded the file on the Mega website, you will need the software Alcohol 120% to burn the file (.mdf / .mds).

Shenmue CD3 is finished about 70%.

Kogami's version will have all the Japanese lines translated into English? So, no more missing voice files?

There are a few lines in Japanese, but 97% are in English.

No voice is missing (CD-R 80 including)

did you include the cocacola vending machine skins? that was a nice edition on smiths release. also is the any chnace of revive dc releasing this version. their releases play so well and burn easily.

The actual size is suitable for CD-R 80
CD 1 CD-R 80 => 684MB
CD 2 CD-R 80 => 644MB

Went to SNESOrama but the links are gone in your thread. Have you taken down the links? Also would this version of the Undub Shenmue be actually better than Smiths version in terms of play ability, quality and bug fixes? I`m asking cause I already used 3 discs for his version lol until I found out about yours but wouldn`t mind using 3 more if this version is truly better. Thanks for all your hardwork bro! This should be on the front page, it really is like playing a new game of Shenmue. I'd much prefer 'shenmue in japanese' over 'shenmue HD' which is what probably would make the front page of shenmuedojo.

This has been in demand as I'm sure you know.

In terms of quality ReviveDC`s version of Shenmue Undub is hands down the best, my laser doesn`t make a single noise when loading this game. ReviveDC really made this shit work smooth as f*ck. If you want a more complete Undub version then Kogamis version is the way to go, but the way his 80min version loads it really strains the laser, the thing sounds like a chainsaw when booting up and at times not booting up at all. I might stick with the ReviveDC release unless something is improved as I don`t want to ruin my DC`s laser life. Though I think the 99min version is working better. But yea what Kogami did is pretty amazing regardless so nothing is taken away from him.

First of all, and foremost, thank you Sm1th and Kogami! So much! 15 years in the making and it can't be understated how awesome this moment is.

I'm downloading both versions, both sizes because F me if I'm going to not archive this and somehow someday there are no more links to these undubs.
i have a Jap DC so hopefully no problem but what's that about Kogami's version and the DC laser?
