^^ Haha I can confirm its true, here is a snippet from my talk with him.

This is what he said after I offered him money to complete the extractor:

" I will restart the extractor, but I think If people want to give money it should be based on how they like what I'm doing, that's why I'd rather put a paypal or flattr (or anything of that kind) button on the project page."

I am going to create a new post soon that details some other points he mentioned. He said he will start work on it next week and that the code base is going to be completely rewritten in c++. More details to come

Since the response was so... hm, bland? I decide to give up on compressing images to more popular formats (lack of support for JAI in 64-bit environment for Windows wasn't helpful either, so I would have to crack JP2 compressing on my own, and this would be time consuming process as well as really slow comparing to already developed ways). I can add re compress from JP2 to JPEG/PNG/BMP if there is solution to re encode of JP2 files in Java (I'm opened to suggestions).

To open JP2 file try IrfanView with plug-in.

About different things found while investing the file -> inside the file one byte corresponds to the the amount of images taken, but as it look at one byte only -> max 255 snaps, but I couldn't successfully modify the file to make Shenmue save more snaps.

Despite quality, the difference is that screenshots from debug Xbox are exactly from the game (including button layout/watch/map etc.) The easy way to get rid of these "extras" is to make normal screenshot and almost immediately take shot from debug console/app.
