Shenmue 2 Hud removal

Postby kakuzawa » Fri Jan 14, 2011 4:30 am

Hi!
I've found the way to remove this somehow annoying hud in Shenmue 2.

For silverston100 I'll prepare 'ultra clean' version but how about daily gaming?
I think what have to be left
- clock
- qte buttons
How about other buttons?

Which should be left, or maybe you have more interesting 'buttons' in mind?

Make the left symbol a gun and claim it's "Reo Hazukys" gun. Hell yeah i just said that as everyone would be expecting me to say that anyways.

Great job, love your "cleaner" version. Looking forward to a completely "HUD-less" version and instruction on how to do that. Excellent work!

I'm glad my inquiries are leading to something.

You should check out TexMod. It's a "higher" level way to achieve texture manipulation...it's more work and not much of a static solution but it works for me. It lets you remove textures you don't want and add your own. It has a pretty useful in-game interface as well. Also works for any DirectX9 app supposedly. My only thing is that I would like to remove/edit game audio as well.

Have you patched the GDI? Did it work?

I can't get the test environment to work. I also tryed using Selfboot. Can't seem to get that working either. I've only ever gotten selfboot to work once, and that was the first time i tried it.

I have a hard time getting any shenmue utility app to work :(

This is way I hate working on Dreamcast base. Iso/gdi/cdi creation process is painful when you have x64 platform.

It is even on x86 :-/

I've been pretty much 50/50

some things decide they want to work on win7-64 only and somethings decide they want to work on winxp-32 only

im glad we made progress on the textures, but i still have no idea where most of the sound effects reside. ive only found a handful of bs sound effects in the stream folder. i know where all the music and speech is though.
